Recently started to use Da vinci resolve which has worked flawlessy, although my needs are only for 1080p editing at the moment, I cant see any issues with 4k editing, it also works well on all games we play often IE minecraft, forza. Forza had some rendering issues early on, but the drivers are updated all the time and the card gets better and better each time. No issues with Forza since december. To maximise an Intel CPU/GPU combo I would suggest having resizable bar. Alot of bias against arc cards still exists because of early driver issues, but its a solid stable gpu at a comparatively low price.

My friends were pushing me towards the 4070, but I just didn't want to fork over so much cash if ARC could fulfil my needs at a lesser price. I picked up the ASRock Challenger A770 16GB. I have to say, I've had minimal issues with this card the past 6 months, and I really like the driver support / updates. It handles FFXIV like a dream! It's a shame the card is such a hard sell, given it's launch day stigma, especially since prices have dropped significantly (at least where I am). Yes, it can be a bit finicky with ARC Control, and the end-user will need to have the capacity to troubleshoot issues themselves, but I'd say it's a good card that more people should at least integrate into one of their systems. So, I switched to the AsRock Phantom Gaming one, and have not looked back. I play Halo Infinite now at around 100 FPS on High/Medium settings at 1440p with HDR on. Running the Heaven Benchmark on the latest drivers, I got 363 max FPS in my PC with a Ryzen 7 5800X. Compare that to my other PC with a Ryzen 9 5900X and an RTX 4070 Ti Super, which only got 361 max FPS, I think the Arc card is a real sleeper that can perform as well as the 4070 Ti Super.

Then it was idling super low like under 3 watts and when web browsing wasn't using much juice either. Darn, I could have taken credit but hmm yeah, guilt wouldn't do well with me and I'm looking forward to a BBQ which should stay in me ole gut ha. I lucked out and found these pages I linked below which might be helpful for some. For a 1st gen DGPU I definitely believe their 2nd gen will be pretty sweet considering all we know now. I'm not worried about comparing a card that has a while until it's released to an Nvidia but I am excited since I'm fairly confident it should be good. Not every new product is exciting to me but living on the edge, patience, the raw engineering specs on paper then being impressed is quite thrilling lol good times ey. If I had to manage Intel I would think the Battlemage would be kept under lock and key until all employees are confident we're ready to show some specs or info. That's why I'm not to sure about all the leaks since even engineering samples are premature to compare with a final product. Intel learned a lot and I think followed through on their word regarding updates and with so much less capital to play with, I mean whew. All of us are bound to make mistakes but when we correct them then it's not so bad in the end and all can be forgiven then Intel definitely deserves some credit for that IMO. I wonder how many hours the driver software devs have put in. Hats off to all the hard working Intel employees showing the world that they don't just give up that easily and are rocking rolling big time! 🎸 Yeah! github.com/IGCIT/Intel-GPU-Community-Issue-Tracker-IGCIT/issues/524 www.reddit.com/r/IntelArc/comments/14ea6x3/fix_for_high_power_consumption_when_intel_arc_gpu/

ARC you have to review it with CPU. It is 50/50 on tasks almost with very small waiting time. AMD/Nvidia it is almost 100% on the GPU alone that results almost all the tasks are within GPU and waiting time is broken and long. Your FPS will show lot higher but performance and game play is lot lower. I would go as far as A770 being the better option to 4070ti on 4k with only half the FPS showing. But there is completely different architecture that in my opinion can't be compared with FPS only. Your glitches could be CPU related as AMD is different architecture. Yes works but there is a widening gap between the CPU's now with every driver update. Maybe the CPU takes a little time to catch up. Also check Intel Application Optimization (APO) that will change the game. Still very new but INTEL ARC will get a boost of 10-50% on supported games. I see this why Nvidia is also getting into CPU's as I see the limits of their current architecture and Wattage needed. It is a problem but if you can split the tasks to GPU and CPU you gain an advantage. So when looking at the big picture the A770 will rake the benefits also and age like a fine wine.

oh if ytou want to fix the driver crash, it's related to various programs with really shitty sound paths. Disable hdmi audio output! It's not an intel problem, it's the conflicting programs! Happened with WoW/discord both running on polaris or older amd cards. They did put out a workaround but intel is trying to address it with ms to not allow programs to do that shit. Nvidia has the same issue with another set of programs, named teams and other voice programs that try to take exclusive control.

Instead of using your gaming computer with the a770 , use something else , record in hevc with your cpu , then transfert the recorded file to a computer using the a770 , that will allow you to have high encoding speed without problems However , streaming in av1 might not work , but if i remember well , you can use an other computer to record your main computer screen ? I'll be doing a new build later this year to replace my aging Alienware Area 51m laptop in my semi truck. Dirching the "supposed to be upgradable" laptop for an MATX/ITX build. I'm just waiting for Arrow lake, since most all the leaks I've seen say it's supposed to be around 30-35% more power efficient, so hopefully cooler running than 13/14th gen. As for GPU I could buy the 5090, but at this point I don't wanna support Nvidia much anymore if all they care about is AI and investors.. I'll probably go for Battlemage off the get go, should still be a decent step up from the RTX 2080 in my laptop. Double the VRAM if not more, depending on the skews. Should be good for 1440p and decent for 4k. Though those WOLED dual mode monitors are intriguing. 4k 240hz and 1080p 480hz all in one.. Depending on the title it offers some flexibility. Still measuring and figuring out how all I want to set it up in the sleeper of my truck. Gotta oder custom VESA mount, need a shock absorbing mounting solution for the MATX tower I ordered, and one of those couch gaming style keyboard/mouse tray/desks. Always interesting figuring out a setup/solution for a relatively confined space lol.

I'm certainly amped to have a build with more "options and upgrade ability" once again. My main concern is just dealing with vibrations and shock from the road. I plan on air cooling, and probably going with the Deepcool Assassin IV. So I'll probably need some support for the cooler tower to prevent it from leveraging in the mobo and socket. I will also probably need a support strut or something on the GPU to prevent it from damaging the PCIe connector. As for the case it's self I'm considering fabricating a custom shock mount similar to what microphones use, just upscaled. Perhaps a metal plate suspended inside a bracket using rubber bands or bungee cord. All a work in progress, I just have to make sure it will all fit handily.

In my opinion, that might be not the common believe, are high end gpu´s highly overrated in nowadays gaming environment. People want the biggest and best, and be that just for bragging rights etc. (I mean let´s be honest, people don´t buy a 4090 to be future proof, those will probably grab a 5090 the moment it becomes available and be it just to get 300 fps where they previously "only" had 240) But not everyone needs or wants to play any title at 4k+ with anything maxed out. And for anyone at 1440 or 1080 a mid range gpu is pretty much all you ever need to play the games you want with setting turned to high or above. Add some upscaling and you are set. The A770 can´t really compete on performance level with nvidia or even amd´s high end cards, but it´s quite some value for the price point AND i would bet that for 95% of the playerbase the performance is still more then they actually need. Intel did some great work on the drivers. In a way the a770 seems to be what the rx 580 was back in the day when it came out. Fast enough, good price and just a great value package. I hope they will also enter the laptop market with battlemage. Could really use some shakeup as nvidia has this pretty much fully in it´s grip, sure amd offers "something" there but the options are so limited they might not even be there.

@@GroundedTech The one thing that intel is currently still a bit lacking at is backwards compatibility with older dx titles. As you mentioned you may experience some issues there which for people that mainly play those games is downer. But then again, you could use an older pc or build a very cheap one for those games (it´s not that you would ever be required to upgrade that as the titles aren´t going to increase in hardware demand). However what I would say is if you want it for AV1 you can get a cheap A380 for that work and it would do nearly as good a job on a fraction of the price. @@GroundedTech thank you! Your video and advice are very useful and important! Yes, well I hear a lot that 8Gb of VRAM is already not enough for tasks like color grading and noise reduction in Davici Resolve so I thought 16Gb of VRAM is what a video editor must have. Among the 16Gb GPUs A770 has no competitors in its price range for sure. Even way more expensive 4060TI 16Gb shows pretty disappointing performance and 4070 12 Gb I simply can't afford. So I figured that A770 would be a good compromise for my work and some future proof. It's just some part of me is still scared with all those negative comments - people complain about drivers instability and that the product is still raw. Also getting over 100fps in all your games, at what resolution, which games? Yeah i get it, it sucks going from 4070 to A770, but stop lying to yourself and others.

It doesn't suck actually. And I'm lying to nobody. Nvidia aren't going to sk your dk for defending them chap. Grow up.

Thanks for making the video! I've been torn between an a770 and an rtx 4060 bc everyone keeps telling me the 4060 is better for gaming and video editing/3d modelling. This cleared it all up. Thanks!
