@@JosephSantoro It was expensive because it was custom colors and matching sets and brand new. I could see that group of grifters taking some home (it was decent furniture) and the furniture company isn't going to track down individuals. 2) From all the videos, it was a "party" office. The stuff was probably covered in pizza grease and banged up. Since those guys weren't doing much in the way of writing software or fixing hardware bugs, they lots of time for races using those chairs and roller cabinets. 3) There's an absolute glut of office furniture on the market right now, particularly in California. My own workplace downsized the office space by 2/3 because most people could work just fine from home. They didn't try to sell their nice furniture (nicer than what Tommy had) and were offering employees to just take chairs and electric adjustable-height desks for free (no obligation to return it) so they wouldn't have to try to liquidate it.

I don't necessarily think it was a lie to make money off rubes, at least on Tommy's part. I think he was just a scared has-been who took on an almost impossible task to come back into relevance, tried to convince himself and everyone around him he was the man for the job, then had to face the music when he actually did convince people, and it turned out he was full of shit and had no clue what he was doing. I genuinely don't think he realized that you can't just make promises on livestreams/in forums forever, that if you start promising a product you have to do the unglamorous, stressful work of producing it. He had a bunch of pie in the sky ideas about how he thought it worked, what the market should look like, how people might respond to this, and kept trying to convince himself that he was right, no matter how much evidence popped up that he wasn't. He spent his entire time with the company working in defiance of reality, rather than rolling with new information. I do suspect predatory folks joined the company looking to make quick money, but Tommy was honestly just as much a mark as the investors were.

I’m glad I didn’t pre-order this mess. I only thought the Amico was worth it, because it looked like something my little nephews could play without having to worry about any games with lots of micro transactions or overly complex games. But now…. 😅 That would’ve been a complete loss.

In a BK, the people owed the most are not the first paid. That may often be the way it goes, but not based on the amount. Secured creditors would be fist, and in many cases local taxes.

There might be an out for Tommy, in California Law. A few years back I contacted Wells Fargo that I would be a week late on my car payment. The, not so nice guy on the phone told me "Then we'll repo the car!" I said, you have to do what you have to do. Within 3 days of the call a tow truck showed up to take the car away and they sold it at action. Last year I was contacted by a law firm telling me that under California Law Wells Fargo was required to give me the opportunity to recover my car after it was taken, they never did. So I got a nice large check in the mail.

Now we need Tommy to tell all of his backers that they were stupid for giving him money and I think we're good. Or do they need to sue him first before he admits to that too?

Reminds me of ebays return policy where the buyer can lie their ass off and ebay will side in their favor even without any proof ebay will force a return even when the buyers are full of shit!

I'd wager he understands it better than Tommy does. Granted that is a *very* low bar to clear!
