I really like and appreciate these lessons Kru Samuk, so thank you so much for putting them together to help us...Can I also suggest trying to keep the spelling of Thai words in Roman characters consistent pleeeease? 🙏 It's very confusing to see the same word eg pen also spelt bpen or day spelt dai or sueh spelt sue etc etc..(until I learn to read the Thai alphabet of course)..Kob kun maak karp..🙏

after 6 Months learning thai with youtube I have to say: My english is getting better and better but my thai stucks haha I really think you should speak more thai in your videos and english only to explain I also have the problem that there is no continous romanization. Sometimes you write it like this, in the next video you write the same word different. But I really think it is sooooo important to romanize always the same way. like bpoo bplaa is not "Pen" it is like "bpen".... "Pen" is such a strong "P" and the word bpen is something in between... between "b" and "p" for us farangs it is really hard when there is no straight way in romanization... Except we learn thai letters of course....

Very useful lesson ma'am. Can we use For me ( สำหรับผม) คุณชื่อส้มสำหรับผมได้ไหม Instead of ให้ผม
@BananaThaiSchool
4 жыл бұрын
Durgesh Thank you ka 🙏🏻 you can also use the word สำหรับ but it’s more formal. It’s casual and common to say ให้. Besides, สำหรับ is used as ‘especially for’. For example, หนังสือนี้สำหรับคุณ this book is (especially) for you.

สวัสดีครับครูสมุกีครับ So ผมผูดไทยเป็นนิดนหน่อย makes more sense than ผมผูดไทยได้นิดนหน่อย, right? Actually, is ได้นิดนหน่อย in this famous beginner's sentence wrong?
@BananaThaiSchool
3 жыл бұрын
Well, พูดได้นิดหน่อย is correct in the sense of knowing a bit but have not yet masted the skill. If you can speak a language quite fluently, you. would say พูดเป็น because you know really how and you're good at it.

So then can you see "pom pood pasaa Thai PEN nid-noi"? ... as that would be a skill, or something you know how to do.

Grammar is easy to find on the net but realistic context such as a conversation is not. Example conversations would also be more engaging pedagogically.

Kru, Are โกหกไม่ได้ & โกหกไม่เป็น both correct? If both correct, are the meaning of both sentences different?
@BananaThaiSchool
3 жыл бұрын
Yes ka :) They are different. ได้ is used for possibility, permission, and availability. While เป็น is used for skills (know how-to). โกหกไม่ได้ = I cannot lie because I need to tell the truth because I don't have permission to lie because I don't want to do that. โกหกไม่เป็น = I don't know how to lie because every time I lied somebody caught me. You can also say โกหกไม่เก่ง.

Hi Sergey, I would suggest using the word 'dai' for being able to speak Thai (know the language). So you can say 'ผมพูดไทยได้นิดหน่อย' pom puud Thai dai nid-noi :)

Kru krap, Is สามารถ&ได้ can use together? Because I see in 1. สามารถ second example says: gluay saamaad sue plaa 'day', what "day" means here?

Hi Jemjem, great question! Yes, you can use สามารถ and ได้ in the same sentence, but it's really formal. ฉันสามารถพูดภาษาอังกฤษได้ = I am able to speak English.

Hi both :) thank you for your question. Dai is what you pronounce from English pronouncing standard. However there are many ways to read the romanized writing form. For example, this course’s pronunciation rule taught in the course, would say ‘day’ instead of ‘dai’ As vowel ‘a’ = ah sound. Basically d-ah-y would sound similar to the way you pronoun ‘dai’ in English. Hope this helps. What about the contents? Please let me know how you like it or how I can improve this.

I usually see it written as 'Daai' with is a bit easier to read and get somewhat close to the Thai word.

But your explanations are very confusing girl, you said "day" you use as a capability...after you say "pen" as a skill.
@BananaThaiSchool
5 жыл бұрын
Aly 2049 thank you for pointing this out. However, my point was that capability is an potential to do something, while skill is what one learned to gain. /dai/ is used for possibility, capability (in this case, potential) and permission. /pen/ is used for skills (what you learned to a achieve or you know how to do it) Examples: Phom khab-rod Dai = I am able to drive (because I am not drunk) Phom khab-rod pen = I know how to drive (because I learned to drive, I gained the driving skill) I hope this help. I understand, a few of my students asked me for further explanation too. :)
