As a student of Jake's who watches your channel, really love seeing him in forums like this. He definitely deserves to be even more widely known than he already is.

Trey Hensley, and Jake Workman are tremendous. I idolized Tony Rice. Tried to copy him as close as I could. These guys have done that and more. I played pro and toured the nation playing grass. I feel it's all but destroyed. Don't see much of it anywhere these days. You never know where the IBMA will be held. I think they just pick a festival and hold it there. Pitiful in my opinion. But they build up people like This Billy Strings who in my opinion is weak compared to these two I just mentioned . That's how country has done for decades. They put alot behind someone and many times it makes them famous. It just don't seem to have the same effect in Grass. All just opinions I have. I have loved the music all my life. I just feel it's fallen and can't get up.

Hey man, I got good news for you: it ain't all that bleak. You left this comment on a video of tons of young people playing bluegrass. That doesn't sound like "all but destroyed" to me! You said, you "never know where the IBMA will be held" but it's been in Raleigh for over a decade! The only reason it's moving to Chattanooga is because the city of Raleigh squeezed them out, it's not even IBMAs fault they had to move. The event has been very stable and successful as of late. Like $12 million of economic impact every year successful. You also accused IBMA of building up people like Billy Strings instead of Jake Workman and Trey Hensley. Take a look at the awards for the last couple of years. (From 2000-2016 Bryan Sutton wins 10 times. His streak is only broken by folks like Doc Watson, Tony Rice, and Josh Williams.) 2017 Guitarist of the year - Molly Tuttle 2018 Guitarist of the year - Molly Tuttle 2019 Guitarist of the year - Billy Strings 2020 Guitarist of the year - Jake Workman 2021 Guitarist of the year - Billy Strings 2022 Guitarist of the year - Cody Kilby 2023 Guitarist of the year - Trey Hensley In the last 20 years Bryan Sutton has won 10 times and Billy has won twice but you think the IBMA is obsessed with Billy Strings? I interviewed Trey Hensley literally the morning of his award win, in fact I shook his hand and congratulated him as he walked off stage last year. The man only has love for Billy Strings. I hung out backstage with Jake Workman and Billy Strings together at Bryan Sutton's Blue Ridge Guitar Camp. Those two only have love for each other. It's also worth noting that Billy Strings is humble enough to take guitar lessons from Jake Workman. Jake is currently Billy's teacher and Billy shares this publicly with his fan base. All these people are just friends and you're imagining drama between them!

We all record separately to a backing track, everyone sends me the video and then I edit it together. It's like jamming but with extra steps... It's a great way to play with folks on the other side of the world though!
I just saw Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder here in Ohio last Saturday and he had a different guitar player. Real young yuppie looking kid with the skinny jeans. Do you know who that was? He never introduced him the whole night. He tore that guitar up though!
