I really appreciate what Dr Ramani said about reactions and judging people.

I wonder if The Patterning Instinct would qualify as social psychology. Malcom Gladwell really got me thinking this way, almost 10 years ago now. Very formative for my 20's.

I think the level of expectation, that society determines it can place on a person, is shaped by legacy social traditions of upward supply. A social structure embedded into the fabrics of societies by the very fact of where they come from - the manor of gaining relevance through violence, then fixing subsequent narrative to consolidate stable authority. That sounds like the ultimate comfort zone for narcissists and by using idols, the controlling relationship scales across an entire population. I think we've fundamentally inherited doing it wrong.

Are there really any mental disorders? Do they only exist when passed through the filters of laws, policies, or other social constructs? Animals don't seem to have mental disorders (except for the ones in zoos.) In other words, I have a math disorder, but 1000 years ago, I wouldn't have it.

Social psychologists did a slam dunk job of getting the ignorant public to FEAR an illness that 99% of those who catch it, recover. Thanks, guys.

That’s right, but it’s more than that! I think jobs and universities and lots of other forums (activist groups, etc) may consult with social psychologists of how to approach topics, and how to get the vulnerable/ignorant to become brainwashed. I for one think a social psychologist would be an amazing position/career path if it was utilized for the better of the American people.

@Lulu's World It's probably less than 99%, seeing as how money was involved. Doctors and hospitals being paid for taking care of covid patients doesn't lend to honest reporting of the numbers. And using a higher cycle threshold for PCR testing is suspect, too. If you're believing the stats, I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you.

Why are these boring zoom calls still being done? It's time to bring back the normal format. Get vaccinated or get tested. Simplez
