Detroit’s freeway network is really interesting to me. It’s a very weird combination of old and neglected and brand spankin’ new. Great video as always

Yay been looking for a recent high quality driving video of I-75 North. Lots of projects going on there with the Gordie Howe Bridge, HOV expansion lane at north of I-696, and I-375 is currently being decided by Mdot to demolish it to create surface level streets allowing the Downtown area to expand.

2:54 Speaking of the Gordie Howe International Bridge, it's tolled and you need a passport for that and any violation of border crossing with that bridge, even without a passport bans you from crossing the border and vice versa according to nationality. About the routes, the 401 will extend to the bridge for 3 to 4 km (I guess) to the border of Detroit River touching the bridge on the Canadian side. On the American side, on the toll to the bridge, accessing to I-75, I suggest I-96 will merge I-75 and turn to the toll to the bridge meeting the 401. How's that idea? If I thought the 401 crosses the border to I-75, I'm pretty sure there's no way a foreign route crosses a country border. Edit: Finally, it will be completed in the mid 2020s like 2024.

For I-75 from the MI/OH border to Detroit looks like the Michigan DOT went NYSTA which was destroying the old Liquid Asphalt Concrete pavement and putting in a new concrete pavement. In the Northeast NYSTA concrete pavements are I-95 Bronx to the CT Border 1990s-2021 I-90 exits 39-40 2009-2012 I-87 exits 23-24 2013

The Rouge River bridge is technically the largest bridge in Michigan, it's about 1.1 million square feet. The Mackinac Bridge is about 1 million. However I would argue the Ziwaukee Bridge in Saginaw is the largest bridge in Michigan. While the Rogue River bridge structure carries both southbound and northbound traffic, there are two structures for the Ziwaukee Bridge, one for northbound and one for soundbound. Each structure is about 600,000 square feet, so when you add them up the total square feet is at least 1.2 million. There's also a third structure that's for an on-ramp.
