Kaleb Lee Norris,, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, began beading when he was ten years old. His award-winning work has been worn at the 2022 Met Gala, the 2023 Super Bowl, and NBC’s “World of Dance.” Beadwork, that he produced in collaboration with his sister Blythe Norris, was also worn by Quannah Chasinghorse (Gwich’in of Eagle Village/Sicangu/Oglala Lakota Tribes) during the Haus of Dreams Event by Golden Goose. His beadwork is also set to be featured in the 2024 Oscars, when it will be worn by Quanah Mars (Narragansett Tribe). At the 2023 Santa Fe Indian Market, Norris won an Honorable Mention Award for his submission piece for his interpretation of the breastplate. He is looking forward to showcasing his work at future Indian Markets and other opportunities to come.
Norris has a contemporary beadwork style that uses motifs of flowers and animals. He beads with size 11/0-15/0 beads and uses raw materials such as dentalium, brain tanned smoked hide, diamonds, labradorites, and elk ivories.
