Hello Raj, thank you for such a useful video! Can I please ask a question regarding STAR method- more specifically, do you recommend its use in job applications, especially when one has to demonstrate skills like communication, team work, self motivation etc? Or should the examples be used more in the interview itself? Thank you, great work!

Thanks for the great video! I was wondering how long the answer should be overall? Is it better to keep it short and sweet, or to make it more detailed? Also, is it better to use just one example or to use more than one if they're relevant? Thank you for your help!

Hey Anna, great questions, and thank you! It's tricky to find verified research on optimal interview answer lengths, but 2 to 2.30 feels about right, organically. Any longer and the interviewer might start to drift, and any shorter means you probably haven't gone into enough detail. The short and sweet approach can be potentially problematic, but some interviewers won't be inclined to ask follow-up questions to get more detail, so it's probably better to err on the side of detail. Lastly, it's definitely best to focus on one example, rather than two; not only is this the expected approach, but using one example allows you to luxuriate in the detail, explaining the sub-attributes and crucially why you did what you did; that's where most of the marks are hiding for these kind of questions. I hope that helps? :-) Let me know if there's anything else I can help with! Raj
