It’s extremely simple! Add a chlorine puck in your floater once a week and put the correct amount of shock in and all of your levels should stay good as long as you are keeping it clean and rinsing off your pump filter once a week. Also try not to get in the pool if you have lotions etc. all over your body because that can throw things off.

Give it a try. I'm an older gal and just set up mine for the first time a couple of days ago. It's not hard. I used a hose filter to fill the pool and have tested the water several times today. The test strips make everything easy. Tells you exactly what you need to add, if anything. There is another great video called How I Keep My Pool Water Crystal Clear All Summer. Vince makes it REALLY easy. Honestly. It all falls into place.

As an alternative to permanently removing the water on the pool I am thinking of doing the minimum maintenance (run pump daily, weekly cleaning and adding chemicals) to avoid algae and keep the water clear. Not planning to swim on the pool any day of the year. May I ask, what are the minimum chemicals do I need on a regular basis?
@GodsChild145
2 жыл бұрын
Take a screenshot of the list in the video or print it out from his website with instructions on what each level should be and which order to add the chemicals in. It’s a lot easier than you think and if you do it correctly and make sure the levels are spot on then you really shouldn’t have to ever adjust anything like pH or alkalinity because it won’t be thrown off. Here’s a tip for you lol I tried to winterize my pool last year so I could keep it up and not have the empty clean put away etc etc wellllll anyways I bought something called a “pool winterizing pill” which is like a little ball that you have the chemicals in for the entire winter so you never have to add chemicals and they make them for every size pool you poke the hole and throw them in the pool put a cover on the pool and you’re done, my pool pill did not freaking work and total waste of money so I had a huge mess to clean and lots of green water and scrubbing the pool out so make sure you get a quality winterizing product and learn from my mistake 😂

Could've saved us so much trouble with the hard water. Our house is on a well in Florida (we call it sulfer water) and the hoses are not hooked through the main residence line. No treatment, straight out of the ground like an artisan well. He talks about adding silver. I'm pretty sure this water has iron in it. Little manganese. And of course, sulfur, sulphates. Calcium. Lots and lots of calcium. You need iron and calcium supplements? Drink a little Florida hose water. Ffs. What a lifesaver, this video. Build OP a lifeguard stand.

The chalky stuff is what's left after the chlorine kills things that grow in the water. A regular hose vacuum with perforated bag won't pick that up it just blows it around creating cloudy water. Get a microfiber carwash mit and use it inside out over the place where the bag goes. It will be full of a sludge once you get it up. Just rinse it off and it will be ready again.
@GodsChild145

Go really really slow, also try to make particles bigger by using double shock or clarifier. Also you can add pantyhose and layers or even socks in layers so I can’t get through your filter netting when vacuuming it up. I noticed the comment didn’t mention a color, if it’s a light brown or green it’s definitely the green algae because I’m having a problem with that stuff right now and it’s so hard to get out because the particles are super super super small

Just calculate your gallons and ive been told by many pool owners liquid chlorine is the best and your pool is probably about 1,718 gallons

Should be around 17,600 and each manufacturer of chemical you buy will tell you on the back so just divide the number and then write it on the bottle so you know everytime.

I never had a problem using just chlorine tablets in our 10x18 above ground pool. Then I started watching pool maintenance videos and adding balancers, adjusting pH etc to get all the colors in range on the test strips and the headaches began. Now I’m back to just chlorine and it’s all good. I think our municipal water is probably better than typical though and the city doesn’t jack up the pH like some cities do.
