Jess- I can't reply to your comment directly. But it's pink insulation from Home Depot one and a half inches thick it's about $21 a sheet. I use Inch and a half because it's the same thickness of the two by eights I put around under my supports. I used 16 full sheets and duct taped all the seams together. It also helps make a smoother surface for vacuuming the pool and it feels better on your feet when you're walking in the pool. And it should help keep you from feeling any stones or sticks that might come up through the ground overtime.
@S4ch3z

Hi! What insulation is that again exactly? Do you lay the insulation on the ground or do you put a liner first and the insulation on top?

This is what I used. Owens Corning® Foamular® Extruded Polystyrene Insulation 1-1/2" x 4' x 8' R- some of my other video sure where I put the insulation. It's underneath the pool liner. I also duct tape the seams.

I bought 16 4 x 8 sheets of inch and a half pink Styrofoam insulation from Home Depot. I believe it was around $25 a sheet. I taped the seams together. I believe that makes the bottom of the pool much smoother and softer on the feet. Then I used two by eights all the way around underneath the pool supports. The two by eights are the same thickness of the inch and a half insulation, so I didn't have to bury the two by eights to make everything level. I also read somewhere that insulation under the pool helps the pool retain its heat a little better

Lately I have been hooking the vacuum hose to the vacuum head and vacuuming the bottom of the pool by letting the water siphon out, because it tends to clog the filter pretty quickly, then I just add the couple hundred gallons of water that I lose.

@kendee2554
7 жыл бұрын
I don't think there's any way to stop the sites from going in and out. That's one of the reasons this pool is so inexpensive. I built a different deck at my new house with the same pool and I made it a little bit nicer. You can check out some of the deck videos on my channel. As soon as the water level goes down in a couple of inches the side start to come in. I dread the day that I have to replace the pool because I would have to get it in the exact same spot on the ground. If the sides did not move I think the liner would rip.

We went for the 16' x 32' so we could have plenty of room for the dogs to swim when we throw the balls for them. Plus I find a little easier to build the deck and level the ground and I rectangle. Plus it also fits nicely in my small yard at my old house. My new yard could handle either kind of cool but we just moved the rectangular pool and deck from the old house.

Barely taste like salt. In my 15,000 gallon pool I had to put about 350 pounds of salt in it . It's approximately 10% of the amount of salt in the ocean. It uses a regular sand filter.

Because a proper above ground pools cost about five or six times more money and I was able to move this pool from one house to another. This pool has lasted me 5+ years with dogs and/or kids swimming in it almost every day in the summer. In a couple of more years when my kids go off to college I will be able to just throw it away if I want.
