Day Two of my adventure in the PA Wilds began with a stop at Ole Bull State Park for a hike along the Beaver Haven Trail. This easy level trail begins in the campground, passes a wetland area, and follows along Kettle Creek. From there I made a short ascent to Castle Vista which was once intended to be the home of Norwegian violinist Ole Bornemann Bull in the 1850's. After soaking in the charm of Ole Bull I headed north on route 144 past several roadside vistas and arrived at the Austin Dam Memorial Park. Here, I took in the sight of the remnants of a concrete dam that was hastily and improperly built, and tragically failed in 1911 causing the deaths of atleast 78 people downstream.
