Your videos always seem to be posted at the perfect time! I'm resting right now as I just ran my first half marathon yesterday. I went into the race with low expectations because I think I was subconsciously categorizing the dozens of other participants as 'running people' or 'real athletes' and my mind was just set on not finishing last. At the starting line, I NEVER would've imagined that I'd finish in second place. It's the most surreal thing in the world, and something I had no clue I would ever be capable of doing. The thing you were saying about breaking the race into small checkpoints is really useful, as I definitely feel that there were times where I was thinking "oh crap I feel like dying and I still have 5 miles" that might've slowed me down. Breaking it down seems like it'd be a great way to stay mentally strong through the race. I didn't realize you were vegan! If you ever mentioned it in a video I must've missed it. Your potato bowl looked amazing! I feel like there's always a sort of social stigma around even talking about veganism, especially on the internet, but it'd really be awesome to hear about your journey and get some recipes if you're into nutritional eating! I'm always looking for new things to make. I just realized how long this comment was, whoops! Just wanted to thank you because it was your last ultrarunning video that inspired me to sign up for that thing spontaneously. It was awesome and inspiring to see your first 50km, great video!

Something really cool that really pushes your out of your comfort zone is the run for your lives zombie race. It is annually held in Sweden (not sure if it exists in other countries) it’s basically a 6.5 kilometre run where you have three lives and along the way there are zombies trying to grab your lives and it’s really scary. Especially if you run late in the evening. It really pushed my comfort zone and it’s an amazing experience. Even if you don’t finish with all or a single life it’s an amazing experience. If you get the opportunity to try it, you definitely should! It’s life changing.

I've just stumbled across this video again after watching it for the first time years ago! At the time, I was maybe 19 years old and just getting into running shorter distances (up to half marathons) on roads and hadn't even heard of ultramarathon running. I was going through a difficult time in life and I remember coming across this video and feeling so inspired. Within a week, I started running in my local forest and had signed up for some trail races. Since then, I've run two 100km trail races, multiple 50ks and countless marathons. Running in nature is such a precious part of my life now and it’s hard to imagine life without it. So anyway, I just wanted to leave a comment to thank you for introducing me to the world of ultramarathon running! ❤️

Adrian, thank you. I am a 19 y/o overweight vegetarian who’s been held back for so long by her own head, seeing all these people with perfect bodies and an incredible vegan diet making it look so easy - I’ve felt for so long that I was just a huge failure for not being able to stick to anything, be it regular exercise or a purely plant based diet. But the way you talk about how you used to drink and smoke and be the antithesis of a “sporty” person, the way you philosophise and just stress the importance of “one step at a time”, you’ve honestly inspired me beyond anything anyone else has to start running, and start making simple, healthy meals to lose the weight that’s kept me insecure for all of my teenage years, as well as gain the self respect I’ve lacked for so long by proving to myself that I can live a life independent of animal products and that I can be strong, healthy and motivated. You’re a wonderful human being Adrian, thank you for sharing. And well done!!! 😌🏅🏃🏽♂️

I’ve been so excited for this video since you posted about the race on your insta story!! Honestly ok this is really inspiring because it seems so rewarding, but I really do have trouble pushing myself to just start things, if that makes sense. I always have the THOUGHT of like starting to run or even just eating with a certain diet or something but like,,,...,,idk there’s always a part of me that just thinks I won’t keep up with it so why even bother? Idk. Your videos have really shown me that it IS possible, though, and I’m starting to get more motivation to change myself. Thank you for these videos, and please keep it up!! Also, side note, did you ever run on treadmills? Or do you recommend running outside instead? I live in Downtown Austin so I’m kind of anxious when it comes to running outside, but I feel like treadmills are kinda? Shit for actually enjoying the run lmao. What do you think?

I've said it before. But once again, thank you for your inspiration! I did my first 5k last night and finished 5th in my age group. I can't wait to train up and continue to get better. I look forward to growing and watching you continue to inspire. Thank you again!

there's nothing stopping you, I swim in the sea almost every day but more to float than to actually swim

@@adrian.howell I'm a varcity high school swimmer who swims long distance, but running always causes excruciating pain.

Hey Adrian! You are truly inspiring! Even though I’m not super into running or sports, you have inspired me to keep practicing my guitar. I’m 16 and I have trouble staying motivated to practice everyday but watching your videos and listening to the message you spread definitely keeps me motivated to keep going! I love your videos! Keep it up!
