"Don't Waste Your time searching for those wasted years" has become some kind of mantra for me fighting anxiety and depression… The song was written by Adrian Smith during the near everlasting "powerslave" tour which lasted for over a year, so he longed to get home to meet his friends and Family. Usually Maiden-songs has duelling guitars, but i Guess Dave just left it all to his friend since he wrote the song.

This is written by Adrian Smith (one of the guitarists) for the Somewhere in Time album. He gets sometimes overshadowed by Harris when people think of Maiden's songwriting but the two other tracks written by him for that album, Stranger in a Strange Land and Sea of Madness are also great tunes. Really hoping you'll check out some early, Paul Di'anno era Maiden. Killers (studio) or Phantom of the Opera (do Live at the Rainbow for that one. The sound mixing for their first album sucks) will blow you away.

They have so many good songs and this was my favorite song off the album Somewhere in Time. This album actually got me to really like these guys(kinda like Metallica and the Black album). Very commercially successful and radio friendly, so it was on a lot, I had previously liked Run to the Hills years earlier and Trooper, but didn't dabble much into them as I too did not look beyond the imagery of their covers as I kinda felt they were "Devil Worshipers" Lol. So, glad my friend would bring this cassette over when we worked out and kicked on the bag in my garage. Good memories. I never got to see them, but my older sister basically saw 99% of the bands in the 80s. She went to the Somewhere on Tour(think it was the name) and W.A.S.P. opened for them. During the WASP concert the lead singer Blackie Lawless drank Fake blood from a skull at one point then spit it out into the audience. Sadly my sisters friend got soaked and my sister was splattered and she was pissed lol,, so they went to clean up and came back just in time. She never liked WASP, so that made her hate them more haha. She is messaging me now. I had no clue she went to see Maiden as she was a Hair band fan(Bon Jovi, Journey, White Lion etc) and thought it was Wasp she liked, so thanks for this video as I got to know more about my sister. She got to meet the band and said Bruce is a hell of a guy. Very smart and personalable. She is now talking to me about how the whole Number of the Beast album is a whole story from start to finish. Nice! Gonna chat with her some more. Looking forward to your next Maiden adventure. Stranger in a Strange Land is a good one. Tells a story and read the lyrics if need be. Pretty cool.

I saw them 7 times on that tour in the UK. Ranging from 20.000 seater venues to a couple of 1000 minus the huge stage set. I've seen them 4 times, & had tix to 2 other shows that got canceled. But at the Somewhere in Time tour I was about 10-15 ft away from Steve Harris, he looked me right in the eyes & sang the song with me, then pointed at me & gave me a 👍. You are totally right, Iron Maiden is a very positive band at its core. Steve Harris, the bass player and composer for most of Maidens songs, is a family man and a keen soccer fan and amateur player. Bruce Dickinson is a former professional fencer, a pilot and businessman and graduated in music theory. Many of the songs of Maiden deal with historic topics and shed a light on events in history or the wrong mankind did. Some songs are inspired by important pieces of art like The Song of the Ancient Mariner. There's little room for drugs and drama. Especially if in the case of Bruce that means having to fight throat cancer. I saw Maiden last year for the first time in my life. When I first heard that Bruce had cancer I was already worried I might have lost my chance. But that guy is tough. The show was incredible. Not only do they bring their proficiency and musical quality to the stage consistently for decades. Maiden have incredible work ethics, they want to make every show the best for the fans out there. And boy do they deliver. The production is incredible with life sized 2nd world war fighter planes, a giant Eddie head and everything planned to the second. The show was in the heart of Munich, next to Königsplatz with it's arch of triumph and the Neo-Classicistic museums encircling the audience. I don't think that anyone there did not have goosebumps during the show.

Sounds like your good self and your wife are becoming firm "Eddie" fans. A few years ago, Iron Maiden's The Book Of Souls tour was here in Dublin for one night (I think)... Absolutely blood brilliant if you have the opportunity to see them live go. The videos of live performances simply cannot do them justice.

Saw Maiden last year. It was awesome. I took my brother - 3rd row (cost my a lot LOL). The whole concert, my brother kept looking at me, saying "Wow, man. Wow. WOW!" He could not stop grinning. They sounded amazing.

And if you really want to get the feel of a live Maiden show, search for the video Fear of the Dark Stockholm 2018.

I’m off my Megadeth journey with ya bro! Sorry, I skipped The Trooper and went right to my favorite song! I used to be able to play this fluently on bass guitar. Been awhile but I still remember most of it! Fun as hell and I like the message of not looking too long at your past because you’re missing everything that’s going on right now!

Steve Harris’ bass playing is none other. A lot of metal bassists are hidden in the background but Steve’s the true back bone of their sound. Not just keeping rhythm but complimenting the guitars. As you can hear, they have such a dynamic sound quality few can match. While I got your attention, Die with Your Boots On would be a great song review. It so coincides with the media and the fear mongering going on today. All right! Thanks for the comment and the compliment. I look forward to more shows! Maybe my pick could be next! Lol If God wills it! Peace ✌️

I grew up in the 70's & 80's, graduated in 1983. Iron Maiden was then and will always be my all time favorite band. Their sound live in concert is almost just as good as in the studio, they don't just stand there playing the instruments they actually entertain you, I never left a Maiden concert feeling I didn't get more than my money's worth. I remember seeing them at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mt. View California, it was the Seventh Son of the Seventh Son tour, Guns 'n' Roses was the OPENING band. Guns 'n' Roses maybe played 4 songs before they threw down their instruments and left the stage, hardly anyone was actually listening to them, people were more walking around socializing, then the crowd "boooo'd" them and started chanting "Iron Maiden, Iron Maiden", that's when Guns 'n' Roses abandoned the stage and it was announced that Iron Maiden would be on in 20 minutes. Shoreline has seats near the stage going back, then a lawn area behind that for the "General Admission" ticket holders, during one of their songs Bruce stops the band, everything gets quiet, he raises up the mic and says in it while pointing to the people in the back seats and lawn area "how can you all enjoy our show so far back there? How about EVERYBODY come up to the front of the stage!" The looks on all the staff and security people was one of panic as the entire crowd stood and moved towards the stage, then Bruce's laughed and the show resumed. One of the BEST concerts I ever went too.

Not for nothing, I respect your dedication to what you are doing, I know how hard it is to build a channel. You keep using buzzwords like "intriguing", "thoughtful", "emotional", etc, on your video titles. I have watched a bunch if your videos now and, I do not mean this in a rude way, your overall reactions are the same on an emotional level. I know you are just doing it as a means of driving traffic to your content, but for people like me, its more annoying than it is enticing. Again, I mean no disrespect. I am just very tired of so many people doing thing like that to clickbait viewers. Its like those jungle survival videos that use the wording "the most technological" in their titles, yet the most advanced thing in the videos is a stick used to dig a hole. Be genuine, your viewers enjoy your content no matter what, you dont need clickbait buzzwords.

I’ve been blessed to be able to see Iron Maiden 4 times and it has been absolutely incredible each and every time. The first time was the best because we bought floor tickets and my friend won a drawing getting front row and I got to go with him! The comradery amongst fans is unrivaled. You must get to see them before they stop touring! Oh, and I suggest looking at the backstory of “Empire of the Clouds” and reacting to that song from the “Book of Souls” album...be forewarned, it’s an 18:00 song lol!

Maiden has never ever been a satanic metal band during their entire history. I have been a Iron Maiden fan since their piece of mind album Till to this day. I have been Iron Maiden stage crew for 3 world tour and I have never ever experienced anything but kindness and humility from the entire band members, they are a group of the best metal musicians joined in a band and created the king of metal.
