Thanks for sharing the post and your feelings with us. Beautiful song. Music brings everything together. I saw another reaction from India on Shilo and he was really touched by the song. He had several imaginary friends when he was a child but when he grow up they left him, just like in the song. But he was happy to have them in that time. Great comfort!

As a child, I also was friendless. My favorite Neil Diamond songs were Shilo, Brooklyn Roads, Solitary man, and I Am, I Said. He does have a soothing quality to many of his songs. We survive the best we can, but can't dwell in soreness. Release has to happen before wounds can heal. Best wishes in finding your happiness.

Powerful stuff brother…. Music like that heals our lament. Normal people will never understand how abuse changes us. It breaks us down when we are young and later in life, if we can overcome it, it elevates us to a maturity others can’t even recognize.

It can be an anchor around our necks or the wings on our backs. I have always used music to let me fly, even in my darkest times...We can share that with the world and maybe even help heal others brother!!!

I'm sobbing here. Your story is very familiar to me. And you're braver than I am. I've never told anyone, and probably never will.

I never have before but I look at this as a chance to maybe touch someone so that they might touch someone else. Kind of a pay it forward kinda thing. But it has to start somewhere. The Barry Manilow song (One Voice) says it best. kzitem.info/news/bejne/1G2Y3GGMp2OQmqw

I don't dwell on my past. I'm just sharing to let others know how music helped me through horrific times in my life and maybe it'll help others knowing how it helped me. And to let others who are going through similar things know they're not alone and they to can make it through the rain...XOXOXOXO

I do understand. In fact, I bought the 45 r.p.m. record when it was released for basically the same reason. I was severely bullied from grades 9-12 and was even ostracized, and to this day I really don't know why. I was a nice kid and an excellent student, but I guess that did not impress anyone. Also, there was trouble at home, as I was the least favorite of the six kids in my family. Best of luck to you now and in the future. BTW, the version of "Shiloh" you just played is different than my 45 r.p.m. version.

Thank you so much for reaching out with your story. It is an awesome thing that music can touch us all in such amazing ways. It brings us together and heals us, if we let it.. Thanks again.....
