Never knew eucalyptus has that much of varieties. Thank you for the information. And it's quite a therapeutic to listen to your voice.

Ah, what a lovely lady you are, so glad I found you. I bought my very first eucalyptus yesterday, however I was wondering what type of soil I should put in the container as the pot that the plant is in feels like cement! Extremely dry and very heavy! Surely that's not right is it Hilary? Could you please show us the best way to plant a small eucalyptus in a container? Also, how and when to prune? Thank you, Wendy (North Wales, UK)

Great video! I'm planning on planting a couple of bushy multi-stemmed gunniis to form a screening hedge. How far should they be planted apart?

Planted a Eucalyptus a couple years ago here in Phoenix Arizona. We have 45-48 Celsius here in the summer and it’s doing well. I’m so pleased with it. Will plant a few more once the heat is over. I think it’s a Baby Blue, didn’t keep the tag unfortunately.

Great news Jutta! We love Baby Blues that have been pruned and kept to a shape - we find they go strangely sprawly if left to their own devices and end up looking like a silver Monkey Puzzle that's melted!! haha!

I have a blue lagoon eucalyptus bush/small tree. Live in Sacramento Ca., very hot dry summers with mild winters. Can I train this plant into a small patio tree? Can’t find much info about it… thanks!

I bought a Eucalyptus pulvetulenta 'Baby Blue" I live in Texas zone 8A. We rarely get under 25 degrees in Winter. I assume I can plant outside since hardy to -10C or 14F. Any reason I should cover it like freezing rain etc? Thanks.

Worried I have accidentally brought a gunnii, rather than the smaller gunnii azura. How can I tell short of waiting to see if it grows to 20m tall and wrecks my house?

These are very healthy and great range but keep in mind the importance to plant UK natives to your home.

Can you recommend an easy eucalyptus tree for medicinal use...they go huge....how do I pick leaves that are 100f in the sky ?
@graftonnurseryhardyeucalyp5241

Hi Barbara, The ones in this particular video shouldn't grow to more than 30ft (being left to grow, without pruning). But, of course, that's still too tall to harvest easily! I would recommend you grow them as a pollarded shrub, in the same way flower farmers grow cut foliage. The pruning technique for this in our Pruning Video (see our channel) - scroll through the video and look for the section where Steve is pollarding a "Eucalyptus nicholii" (he's holding a tape measure). This technique encourages lots of bushy growth between 3-10ft from the ground. Hope that helps!

I've got 3 rainbow eucalyptus Trees in the Netherlands in pots but is IT posible to put Them in the ground and survive our winters?
@graftonnurseryhardyeucalyp5241
4 жыл бұрын
If your Rainbow Gum is a 'deglupta' then sadly no :( they're not frost-hardy and would likely die in the winter. If you are able to keep it indoors during the winter months, that would help. Don't put it outside again until you're sure you're not likely to get another cold spell / frost. Also, we would not recommend wrapping them in fleece etc like you would other frost-tender species as they are evergreen and will sweat under the wrapping, leading to disease. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! :(
