A good way to tell these didieries from the crassula jade is that these require a knife with at least some teeth to cut them whereas you can just score crassula with your thumbnail and snap them. Also these are more closer to the "primitive" cactus like acanthocereus, pereskiopsis, rhipsalis and opuntia and they do share those fibrous traits and probably the flowers as well. Even the seasonal Portulaca oleracea "weeds" that turn up in your planters slab cracks or even hanging baskets in garden centers have similar flowers and the fibrous texture. The culdesac below me where I walk the dog has quite an overgrown one near a transformer box but I'm never prepared cause I don't always know where the dog's going to want to go.
