@@CocoTheMii I am particularly on the side of it not being “repairable” since it uses proprietary parts that need to be purchased through framework (I get the why this is the case, at least currently). @@abubakrakram6208 if you need an upgrade with a framework laptop you buy only a mainboard, with other brands that isn't always an option to begin with. Achieving actual, meaningful modularity is so much more difficult on a 16-in device, with a dGPU no less. Add a fully-modular keyboard deck to that? Man that's crazy. To be honest I'm doubtful of this project success simply due to its sheer complexity. But again, everyone doubted the 13-in model a few years ago. And if anyone is going to succeed, my money would be firmly placed on framework. The dream for me, is to get the 16", and in 7-8 years time, I might update the GPU and CPU and battery (or sooner, or later, but only if I have the need to). Then, in 10-20 years time, I upgrade the parts that starts to malfunction gradually as they do. Then I keep doing this until I myself start to malfunction 🙃 It feels horrible to throw away a laptop with 90% functioning parts, just because one thing is failing. And when I have a desktop PC, I simply need a "decent, functioning laptop for the few times I use one", not a top notch modern one anyhow. So I would gladly pay a sizeable premium up front and go with a slightly un-optimal overall design, if it meant I could replace parts only when needed for reasonable prices, optimally being confident I'd be to do so for the forseeable future.
