I used to think this concept was lame, a camera mounted audio boompole. But nowadays with the prevalence of "creators", KZitemrs, Vloggers and needing to accomplish more as a OMB, this concept is making more sense. Many of us are supplementing our large, heavy pro cameras with light, mirrorless rigs and even iPhones for more mobile shoots and this is a way to still get good, usable sound. I love my expensive mics, and my Tentacle Track Es but I have to admit my Rode Micro gives very usable sound quality if you can get it in within a foot of talent's mouth. It's not killer but its good enough for a lot of uses. Good work Zacuto!

I like the convenience this can bring but my Sennheiser MKH416 is too heavy for it? I have smaller mics too but as a solo creator being able to use a XLR mic too would be fantastic. Great concept though!!

Thanks for the comment. We are contemplating XLR but its tricky with the extra weight. What XLR mic do you use besides MKH416?

This is exactly conundrum - I love it, but use the MKH416

Could this be technically used with a MKE600 if the MicroBOOM is installed on the camera rig(cage) instead?

When will you begin shipping the MicroBoom?
@zacutousa

Another update on the MicroBOOM…. We originally anticipated an end of March ship date and unfortunately we didn’t hit that. At the last minute, we decided to change the NATO mount to be able to accept NATO RAIL in either direction (forward to aft and side to side) and unfortunately that pushed us out a couple weeks but that is just another handy feature of the MicroBOOM. The latest news is that units are being assembled now and we will see them around 4/15. We will do our final QC’s checks and get them shipped out to you as soon as possible

I've already purchased it but i have some concern about weight limit. I wanted to use it with the Rode VideoMic NTG but it looks like it's too heavy for the weight limit. How does the MicroBoom handles higher weights?
@zacutousa

Hi, thanks for purchasing it. The weight limit is really for comfortability in shoulder mounted, handheld scenarios. I'd suggest trying it out. The Rode Video Mic ($38) is really the way to go with the boom pole.

Technically, the metric system is older than the imperial system. 1790s VS 1824. (Yes, I know that many of the imperial units are based on older units of measurement like the Roman mile, but the exact units used today were standardized in 1824 and before that they used Winchester Standard units from 1588 to 1825). Also, can a system of units of measurement that is used by millions of people every day *truly* be considered "archaic"? (And don't confuse any of this with me saying that imperial units are somehow better than or equal to metric units. This is an exercise in literal semantics.)

just use a dji mic as a solo shooter tbh. Your camera needs to be flexible.

Corded mic is the way to go. Hands down. Wireless has too many variables when setting up your scene. Too many..
