Garou because Loup-Garou, French for Werewolf (Loup = Wolf) Because when you want something to be different yet recognizable, you just use the same word in another language.

Very good breakdown of the book~! As a WW player who was always jealous of WOD Larpers. Then I found out you CAN larp as a werewolf player~! Get your self a denim jacket. Some fake wolfteeth necklaces some fake gold chain necklaces. a few rings of wolfheads and skulls. a paint a single long line of blue down one side of your face under the eye. And the other red. Presto now your a werewolf who just finished there rite of passage and found there position in the tribe!

Thank you! I understood vtm and I worked out the current version of hunter but Werewolf was a bit of an enigma to me.

I was in the same boat. This is the world of darkness game I've played the least, so I'm hoping to shed some light on it as I figure it out myself.

Thank you! I've been pleasantly surprised by most of the book, at least concerning the mechanics. More videos are on the way to dive into it more and might help you decide whether the game is for you.

@@SummonedStories I can't wait, it's going to be awesome. Everyone's impression of the book seems positive so far. I might get it maybe not next month but the month after that. Books are too pricey🤣

Nice breakdown. As a long time Werewolf player this 5th edition is a ton of fun for me to read over and hopefully play with my normal gaming troupe. The whole not being a glorified environmental activist is a lure to some of my players. They didn't like the old edition for that.

Thank you! I'm also a fan of some of thematic changes. Hopefully you can convert your crew. I'm really interested to hear from people who have started playing.

I loved 2E, Wild West and the other White Wolf games of that era. I'm on the fence with these new products, and not just WoD. Catalyst and Shadowrun 6E I'm looking at you for the apprehension I have for new editions to old RPG's. Thanks for the vid. I need to have players watch this explanation so I don't have to do it anymore.

That's totally valid. I believe 5th edition is meant to build a different experience than old editions and that it was needed. This edition focuses on personal narratives, exploring character arcs, and dealing with struggles and consequences. Older editions had tons of established lore and a fully fleshed out world for players to take part in. Often that part made them a total badass that wasn't too worried about personal drama. Different games for different playstyles and people should choose what works best for them. Unlike Shadowrun, I do think 5th edition made excellent mechanical changes to the game so you can use the new rules that you like while keeping whatever lore is your favorite. If you love the older era, I think a lot of the 20th anniversary editions of WoD games are excellent at compiling everything with some reasonable adjustments made as needed. That might be your jam if you haven't checked them out.

@@SummonedStories A lot of players are talking about 20th anniversary, I guess I need to check it out. I am always looking for ways to improve the game experience. With Shadowrun, I blended several editions together taking what worked or what I felt was the best system/mechanic for a particular aspect. Nothing is totally bad or useless.

@@rf-cattleprod6207 That's an excellent way of looking at it. Focusing on improving your experiences and skills as a whole while blending the best of what inspires you is sure to lead to amazing games. Expecting one game to somehow perfectly align with every aspect one person enjoys, let alone massive communities of players, is never going to end well.
