No issues. The line I'm running has a fairly high temp rating (275F IIRC). It's also mounted to the floor and tied up away from the transmission and other heat sources.

When I had coking issues in my Cummins, it was a matter of pulling injectors.. cleaning the tips with a brass wire brush and putting it back together with fresh crush washers. Pretty straight forward and no permanent damage.

Okay so it's a gravity feed. How do you tie the lines together at the valves and is the bed tank just gravity feed and stock pump pulls the fuel or do you run a pump in line for the bed tank Im worried about keeping my fuel pump fed. Im learning as I go hear just trying to better understand how to set it up. Ive got a 12 valve and a vw tdi to try it in. Oh and 150 gallons of wmo to start

I'm using the stock lift pump which I an engine mounted mechanical pump. The supply and return from each tank go to 3 port valves. The lift pump pulls from which ever tank is selected by the valves. Very simple
@BRWfilms

@@NotSoGrandGarage Okay so my understanding is you have a line coming off each tank going to a valve for each which then goes to a T from there the T connects to the fuel line going to lift pump and injection pump. Now I'm not quite sure how the return works is there already a return Line going to the stock tank and from what, the lift pump or injection pump?? Or return Line is just for the purpose of dual tanks and valves. Considering I would only be using the straight diesel for start ups and shut downs, I would imagine I really only need about a 7 gallon diesel tank I know I sound ignorant. Like I said I am just learning.
@NotSoGrandGarage

@@BRWfilms on the idi, there is a return fuel line that comes from the injectors/pump located at the back of the intake manifold by the glow plug controller. In stock form, both the supply to the lift pump and return go to a tank switching valve. On mine, both the supply and return lines from the tanks go to 3 port ball valves. So the supply valve has the supply lines from each tank connected to it... and then the supply line to the lift pump which is always open. Move the valve to pull from either tank. Same goes for the return. Both return lines from the tanks go to the return 3 port ball valve.. and the return from the engine connects to the always open port. That way you can select which tank fuel is being returned to. I'm going to do a video on this soon to show exactly how it's setup

I have the 7.3 ps van right now, but getting to injectors and filter is near impossible. Running wmo sounds like I will likely have to do that pretty soon.. a buddy is selling his 1 owner dodge cummins pickup. Way easier to pull the injectors for cleaning. Your thoughts?

Motor oil doesn't gel like diesel fuel does. It does get thicker though so in most cases, adding more thinner (gasoline, kerosene, etc) to the blend is needed. I run the current blend down to single digit temps though.

Got a question for you uncertain machines like tractors backhoes skid steers you don't have a place for room to mount a second tank would you recommend in your opinion if a person got into the recycling like this could you run half Diesel and half black diesel and not mess up your fuel system and cut your fuel cost in half
@NotSoGrandGarage
2 жыл бұрын
Potentially. If it were me, I'd try to find a place for a small (a few gallons or so) tank though... just enough to be able to start and shutdown on diesel. It'll make starting easier. It also HIGHLY depends on how the equipment is operated. If its being used and under load most of the time, it would probably be fine but much idle time at all could cause issues with hazing, etc. It's something you could certainly play with. Start slow and work up... say start at 10% and see if you notice a difference over a tank or 2... then go up until you starting noticing a negative impact on starting or haze, etc.

@@rodneyhoskins8187 a substantial amount as the pump and injectors are cooled by fuel so they bypass a good bit. You would overfill the tank in no time. Have to isolate both the supply and return.
