You just perfectly explained my absolute love of Italian Baroque Music. When I go to the gym I take my iPad and I have a KZitem playlist with all these live concerts mostly The Venetian Baroque Orchestra. A guy asked me what was it about this music that energizes me. It was quite difficult to explain. You explained it perfectly!

Such a beautiful tutorial! It drew my attention to the part where you explained the aural tradition and how it died out at some point and stopped being taught. Would that be the reason, later in the second half of the 18th century, and unlike German music, Italian music just decayed. When we talk of the next classical period, where, unlike the baroque period we can find a good number of prolific composers references, in the classical period, besides Mozart, Haydn is just the other reference of that period in music, not that perhaps Mozart's genius just obfuscated his contemporaries.
