Geometry, Trig, and basic algebra really is a bulk of the math I use on a daily basis as an engineer. But it always amazes me, both on the job and in college, how many people can't do basic trig, or how many students started calculus classes without ever having had a class that covered trig. Some may have forgotten they actually covered trig, but I know some never actually took trig at all.

This is the reason I am steadfast on completing his trig playlist instead of jumping to calclus after College Algebra. Trig has a lot of intereting applications.

@@HimuraK1 the bulk of calculus is really just trig, algebra, and precalc. Calculus is an idea, that uses math you've learned previously to solve. Just as algebra 1 was nothing more than the exact same math you'd done previously, just that the unsolved variable wasn't alone on one side of the equation this time. And they gave you formal rules to rearrange the equation, and used a variable as a placeholder to keep track of the unknown answer as it got moved around. Calc is the same way. It is just a new set of rules that are just shortcuts to save you excessive algebra each time. But the math you use is the same you've already known. If you do well in the advanced algebra course, precalc topics, trig... you'll do well in calc. Calculus was the easiest math class I ever took because I was so well prepared in the other courses. Calculus 1 is literally nothing more than fancy Division. Rise over Run. Finding the slope of any curve at a point. Units of a derivative are the units of the Y-axis divided by the units of the X-axis. You can forget all the shorthand rules of calculus and still solve problems by using the fundamental theorem itself and doing it the long way. You also learn the concept of the Limit, which is important, but once you get the concept of a limit, you never really deal with it directly anymore in the actual math, only in setting up (defining) the problem. Calculus 2 is literally nothing more than multiplication. The reverse of Calc 1. Length x Width = Area. Units of the Integral are the units of the height (y-axis) multiplied by the units of the length (x-axis). One of the best books to prepare for calculus is "Calculus Made Easy". It breaks down the concepts. If you read that before taking calculus, it will be much easier, even if you didn't understand everything in the book, because you'll see it again in the class and it will make more sense with practice problems. But having a heads up on what will be covered helps. And it's not a math-heavy book, it's more about explaining the key concepts than an actual textbook. It's easy to read, not boring like a textbook.

I think he already said he might refilm those courses. We might be waiting at least half a decade though before he completes it all. Unless he gets more patreon subscribers so he can devote more time. That’s a lot of work. Either way, when he does down the line, I’ll come back and watch the new videos for some nice review.
