Introduction to Sheffield General Cemetery with Dave, from our Landscape Volunteer Team.
Sheffield General Cemetery Trust was formed by local residents some 30 years ago to help to restore, protect and conserve the historic 13 acre Victorian cemetery, which after 140 years of use had fallen into ruin by the 1970s. With Covid preventing our normal Heritage Open Day guided tours we're releasing 7 new short videos about the cemetery during the 2020 Heritage Open Days week.
We'll kick off with an introduction to the cemetery from its foundation in the 1830s to the present day. Then each day we will release another on a specific topic - birds in the cemetery, trees, managing the cemetery's natural environment, the historic buildings etc.
After each video is released you can leave questions by using the 'Comments' section and our experts will answer. All videos will be available permanently on our KZitem channel to watch at your leisure.
