I don't think so. It's velocity keeps decreasing after contact till it reaches max height instead of peaking at equilibrium and its collision with the ground is abrupt and not like shm. however his other examples were good and the bouncy ball still helps in a general analogy sort of way to at least help better visualize the motion idk

No, because a bouncing ball's position as a function of time, is a periodic sequence of concave-down parabolas, joined at cusps, rather than a sine wave. There is a huge asymmetry when the ball rebounds from the bounce quickly at the bottom, and turns around at the top slowly. Simple Harmonic Motion is symmetric about its neutral position.
