Great tutorial thank you! Does the Uber cam have motion blur on it? When rendering out from Maya one problem is that motion blur follows cameras that move on stepped keys, creating a huge blur every time the camera changes shots.
@DrJasonKennedy
4 жыл бұрын
That's a good question and I haven't tested the ubercam with motion blur before. If it creates a problematic motion blur effect due to stepped keys, I would suggest extending the start and end lengths of each clip within the ubercam by 5 frames or so, and allow the motion to taper on/off in those extra frames. Unfortunately, this will result in a playblast is not a tight edit, but you could always bring the playblast into a video editing software to trim the extra frames.

This is a great tutorial! Thank you! But you mention that you wouldnt be always using this method to organize your shots? So what other method would you use? I'm planning to make a short animation movie using Maya, but as I'm a newbie I'm struggling a bit to understand what should I be doing to keep my shots organized and manageable.
@DrJasonKennedy

Thanks Mariana. This method works well if all of your shots are in the same scene. If that's not the case, or if you need to integrate shots with different effects elements (from other Maya scenes), or scenes from other software entirely, I would do my shot organisation in Premiere. Premiere is a dedicated video editing software and its features are more robust.

Thanks for the video, i have a question for example i have a camera between 1-20 on timeline and wanted to start 2nd sequence at 50-100 on timeline after i make it on camera sequencer and create an ubercam the 2nd camera animation starts at 20, after i move the keys in the graph editor to the 50th , this time ubercam renders empty 20-50 in timeline how can i avoid that, many thanks

is there way to not lock camera ranges and move the clips around so the start and end change to the new range? I guess it would be more thinking that the cameras are anim clips versus locked ranges..

Hi.How to Fix.Cannot create ubercam. Camera sequencer shots must have the same duration in sequence and source time.
@dboyzero

It looks like the ubercam set camera 3 to follow right after camera 2, even though you wanted to skip the 75 frames between them. I'm assuming that's something you'd have to correct for in the sequencer before creating the ubercam? There's no way to render directly from the sequencer yet, is there?

There's a way to render directly from the sequencer by selecting the ubercam on the render setting. Super simple.
@TheLegoMaxter

That helps alot but there is big problem with motionblur. When you created the ubercam and enable motionblur you get a totally blured image when switching the position.

Great video! Really helpful! I do have a concern tho, hopefully you can help me. My cameras keep showing in my render/playblast!(the little green wireframed cameras) how can I just hide them? I went to Display-Hide-Cameras but they keep re-appearing. Help me oh great one! I'm going insane! This is literally the only thing getting in my way from finishing my project.

Thank you very much! What you're likely seeing is the resolution gate of your cameras. To turn this off, hover over the little icons just above the viewport. There will be one that is a white-bordered rectangle with a blue circle in the middle. Click on that and the resolution gate should turn off.

Yes, they are all separate cameras I created. They each have their own placements in the scene, as well as their own focal lengths that I've adjusted.
