It's amazing how people get mindfulness wrong, especially the TM group, mindfulness is something you do at the beginning of sitting to allow your mind to settle, when your mind becomes quiet then you start with your meditation object. Every meditation has an object of meditation including TM, which happens to be a mantra based on your age group, often in Buddhism the object of meditation is the breath. Meditation is a state and not an action, it really doesn't matter what your object of meditation is, as different objects such as the breath or mantras work well depending on the individual mind using it. There can't be a "best" meditation as it depends on the person doing it, different methods will suit different people. Concentration, meditation and finally absorption, absorption or Samadhi being the state where mind and body disappear and you're left with only the object of meditation (first state of Samadhi). Anyone who tries to tell you their meditation is better or the best fundamentally doesn't understand what meditation is and isn't and if they ask you to hand over large sums of money with the promise your life will improve dramatically and your dreams will come true please be warned, that is not the purpose of meditation.

About to save you the TM fees. Sit down comfortably, relax your breath for 1 minute, then start gently mentally repeating your TM mantra (can be found online by age typically 2 syllables ). If you get sidetracked just gently return to the mantra. You'll feel your body relaxing/hands and legs gently going numb. Stay in that state for 20 mins, then let go of the mantra then give yourself 2-3 mins to come back to the present moment and open your eyes. You're welcome
