FRANCIS. 😭😭😭 I can’t believe I found your vlog. It made me realize I’m probably a lot more introverted than I thought. I’m sitting here watching KZitem while feeling sad, but how you communicate your inner world, it’s soooo incredible. I really see myself in your thoughts. What you said about your friend you made - I am sooo touched. And, when you said “having a bad day? Get a matcha”, I am actually drinking matcha right now 😭😭😭😭 Also, THANK YOU for showing the awkwardness of Japan. I love it soo much, but I have sooo much social anxiety there, mainly because as another Asian-American (Filipina) I come from shame cultures and don’t want to be shamed, there! Even though I was! Hahaha But you made the bumbling through a foreign country, so endearing, and so naturally part of the process. I can’t wait to watch pt 2, and your other vlogs too. Sooo healing. Keep going.

Thank you so much. I’m actually a lot more introverted and awkward before college. I feel like I’m just getting more comfortable with being awkward now haha. I was also surprised after visiting Japan, the culture is a bit different than I thought. And I definitely need more time to learn about it. Sometimes I think I made the stress up because I don’t understand their culture enough 😂.

3:53 I had the same reservation when I first arrived in Tokyo as my first solo trip. Honestly, while it's both respectful and commendable for that attitude (as everyone should), I think it's a bit limiting as a solo traveler and can be negative for our solo traveling mental health. I think "I am a tourist that respects traditions and cultures, but I also want to have fun and learn more about things" is a better way of doing solo travels. I changed from that mentality to this on my second trip and I honestly had a way better time, even made local friends that I cannot wait to come back and visit again. Regardless, cheers from another solo traveler! May we have enough time and money to see all we want to see before the ride is over.

hi, i really enjoyed your video! new subscriber here :) btw it's okay to eat & walk in japan (i'm japanese living in tokyo) there's a word 食べ歩き (tabearuki) in japanese and it literally means "walk and eat" we just do it less in crowded places like asakusa, because it's hard to eat and walk without bumping into people usually we move to the side or back alleys where we don't get in the way of walking people it's not a manner/rule or anything, we just naturally do it for our own comfort i found it interested the perspective of travellers like you it's really nice that you care about the local people and try to be polite, thank you

I loved Tokyo when I was there (solo travel)..Yes it is bat shi* crazy at times..but just walk a few streets away from the chaos and you can find yourself in a totally different enviroment...I visited Japan twice last year to see my favourite band LIVE..In Tokyo and Shin-Yokohama.....But I did travel as far south as Kagoshima..and returning via Kumamoto, Hiroshima, Osaka and Kyoto during my first visit..But during the second I stayed mainly in Tokyo apart form a few days in Shin-Yokohama...Just walking round looking at everything and anything I found to be an experience...So different to what I have been used to in my life...I just wish I can return someday...As I miss it so much. @@francisthechangeIndeed Francis...When I was first in Japan in Jan, apart from the Shinkansen to get to the locations I stayed in..I pretty much walked everywhere!....I felt being on the subway etc..I would actually miss seeing so much of Japanese life in general. I got up early every morning to walk for hours to get to anywhere I planned to see that day..and so enjoy the empty streets...It was somewhat crazy!....Being in a city like Tokyo..yet being able to stand in the middle of a 6 lane road with not a single car in sight! ..not one!...Felt like the last man on earth!..hehe.
