Suggestion: each time you are finished using the generator, turn the gas line off and run the carb dry. Particularly in the heat, the evaporating gas will 'jelly up' or evaporate completely and leave deposits. Of course check the fuel filter, the age of the gas. You might have run the old generator on part choke until the fresh gasoline was able to rinse out the lines. Good luck and be safe you two.

At the Annapolis boat show last year I finally saw a life raft in person. My first thought was 'get another EPIRB'

Have a safe journey. Remember the rule of three’s-you can survive without air for three minutes, water for three days and food for three weeks. Getting the second generator was a good call since drinking water is a potential risk on your journey. The new generator assures that you will have plenty of margin. Looking forward to watching your ocean crossing and European adventure!

I sheared multiple quadrant bolts coming down island and I know Shanti did as well. I’ve been running a straight bolt since then with no issues. The only downside is that there is no longer a quick release to remove the autopilot linear arm from the quadrant should the arm fail and lock up.

Good decision. Tip, unless you have found gas without Ethylene, that could be the problem. Ethylene turns to varnish in months. Fuel stabilizer helps. Good luck on your crossing!!

Good decision to buy the generator. The consequences of a failure that impacts the ability to make water are potentiallyy too severe to risk it. Plus, nothing wrong with having a backup portable generator. Always look forward to your videos and really looking forward to seeing your Atlantic passage. Be safe and all the best....

Damn I am so so so jealous of this adventure. I understand the frustration with the generator spend. I would have been up all night trying to fix that thing so I could return the other one, but for safety's sake, you did the right thing. Be safe and enjoy the trip!

if it wasn't for trying to get a decent night's sleep prior to leaving for such a big passage, Travis probably would have done just that! 😆
