Inverewe in the Scottish Highlands on the north west coast at a latitude of 57.8 degrees which is further north than Moscow and about the same as Hudson's Bay in Canada.
The garden was created in 1862 by Osgood Mackenzie on the 2,100 acres estate bought for him by his mother. Osgood Mackenzie, succeeded by his daughter Mairi, transformed this once barren, windswept headland into a beautiful garden where, due to the warm air from the Gulf Stream passing over that part of Scotland, they managed to grow some tropical plants from around the World.
It is pleasant to walk around but this visit was also to see The Giving Tree Sculpture that was put in the garden since our last visit.
