For starters - A better portfolio to start with your savings - 60% FD, 15% (PF, PPF, bonds, gold) and the rest 25% in MF, equities or other instrument (if you understand equities). Based on how well you do in each pillars over few years, slowly rearrange the percentages. But remember, in both MF and equities, as long as you don’t cash out, it’s only a notional profit. It is very important to have an exit strategy, even before entering. Because, ultimately cash is the king.

Sir , most of the janta is here under 25 or under 30 , so please suggest some good books for investing and also making money . Most of the people of your channel , are now just out of college and are starting with their jobs ( like me) or are in jobs for 1-2 years so we don't want to learn from some "share market courses" or "investing courses" on youtube and udemy . We want to learn from the books and the experts of the field . So since you had that investment banker profile , so if you know some good books , so please suggest .

Currently (Oct 2021) Bank FD make sense only when: 1. Your stock/MF investment does not have a Debt component (That is, you are 100% in equity only) So FD acts as your Debt element. 2. Your FD is in an NRI Bank Acc and the deposit is not taxed, making the returns almost equal to the inflation, thus not depreciating.

Basic principles of financial planning for beginner's, I am writing this not only on finance aspects, also from life aspects. 1) Financial Security :- Your 6 months expenses should be in secured instruments like FD. And you must have life and medical insurance as well as critical illness insurance. 2) Financial Stability :- Your 3 years expenses should be in Secured instruments like FD 3) Financial planing :- You can invest your 40% portfolio in Equity, rest 60% you can invest in fixed instruments like ppf, gold, commercial property etc. Do not believe on KZitem videos blindly, end of the day money is yours. If you are working in non government sector please try to save atleast 40% of take home salary. We don't know what is next after Corona. And please try to avoid any kind of loan specially credit card and personal loan.
