Your choice of paint colors is perfect. I often struggle with what colors to use... I always tend to go with colors I've often used before boring myself. I often go back to watch your videos that I've seen before because there is so much to absorb about your creative process. One viewing is never enough. Your use of inlays, stamps, transfers and all the other add-ons makes your work, unlike any other furniture painter. Nothing you do is simplified, one technique is added on to another. It seems like it is hard for you to let go and call it done. It is constantly evolving. What a pleasure to see your creative process in action.

Thanks Sydni I'm sure you probably think what can I throw at it but I always have a plan...sometimes I do go back and add or sometimes I take things away ... I'm glad you like the process .. Just watched this again. They're all so beautiful. I love the little letter cupboard, the glass door is exquisite, and I love that you added a bit of subtle color to it. The desk.....the colors, the way you put on the inlay and used the leftover bits on top....That piece would go in any room, especially if you wanted a touch of elegance.

Lil, There's a whole story to that piece that would take some time so I will try and tell you quickly. It's a heritage poster called oonagh and the lion, I applied it to my piece and began blending it out, I was very happy with it at the time....but unfortunately when I was working on it my dad was dying with terminal cancer ..it never was finished as it reminds me of a frightening time ..where I was trying to make myself feel better using art. Needless to say my most wonderful and amazing dad passed away...and I could never bring myself to finish it. It is the epitome of emotions I can't revisit ... So I now use it to store paint and waxes .. Sorry this is such a sad story. I'm sorry that there is no video, but I'm very glad you asked me about it. It's been 6 months and I am thinking I may buy another art poster and show everyone how to blend it and paint it into furniture....do you think you might enjoy this? Should this be a tutorial. Sorry to be so down...but on a hugely happy note my dad who literally was my biggest proudest fan would love that you watch me paint....thanks so much for watching... Love lel X ❤️

Morning Lell ❤ I'm doing an inlay piece today but doing a paint effect so obviously don't want to paint a block of paint under the inlay. I'm amazed how the mod podge doesn't set and you are able to take it off with water. Will this be the same on furniture do you know? Don't want to mod podge it on then can't get off 🤣
@MadebyMarley
Жыл бұрын
Georgia... Do you have lacquer? Or a thin top coat? Mod podge is the best on glass... However on an already finished painted effect surface where you want to apply an inlay lacquer is best... Hope your well and I hope this helps. Any questions just message me back. Lel x x

@@MadebyMarley thankyou, I have annie sloan gloss lacquer would that work do you think?
@MadebyMarley
Жыл бұрын
Hey Georgia.... Yes I can't see any reason why not. Its not the lacquer I use but it should be fine. If you have a board or spare piece of wood slap some paint on it and dry it quickly with a heat cut then apply the inlay on top. Have a cup of tea or sit it outside to dry quickly then get it off with your water and check it all works. I think it will 100% be fine, but imagine if I was wrong you would hunt me down so prevent that happening I would just do a quick test. If I am ever in any doubt i do a quick test. Lel Let me know how it all goes ❤️

Hi JoAnn, I took the window from my studio (the stable) and took it over to my house where it was a little warmer. Like you I was scared to leave it. I'm afraid I have not a time I literally sat and watched it like a hawk. It was still slightly damp just very slightly on removal. I was sure it would not come off. I have done this a few times since and each time has worked perfectly even on a mirror. I think it's just about dampen and peel a tiny piece back to see if you feel it's right then be brave and go for it. Sorry I can not be more helpful. If your nervous try with a small piece of left over inlay.....this is what I did on an old piece of glass. It gave me the confidence to jump in. Any other questions and if I can help please just message me. Thanks so much for watching. Lel x ❤️

Hi Anita When they first came out I thought that also I tried a couple of top coats I used French chic top coat but I have used rustoleum laquer to apply an inlay on top of a finished piece. Go onto IODs website and there is questions asked, I don't want to tell you a product that if your in a different country might not work. However I've found any top coat sealer that is very light works ...if your still stuck come back to me ...also can I say I try on test piece of painted wood to check if things work.
