It’s kinda interesting that yes, Wing Chun doesn’t rely so much on specific forms and moves- the goal is for it to be instinctive, and it’s open to incorporating stuff from other styles to enhance its effectiveness. It gives you a framework, but then you build on that framework.

I like the important of 02:08, if I'm understanding he's meaning he's saying don't hold back, try and hit them with all your skill, but you don't have to hit them hard, they're just light taps I think that's why a lot of people view wing chun as nothing but tippy taps, as the people are mainly sparring. They're not actually trying to hurt each other, just testing their skills to see if they can land a hit and by holding back on strength they don't hurt them

The main point of martial arts is that when you use it, it becomes yours and yours only; like writing, we all learned it from first grade, years later people can tell our own handwriting from others. Ip Man’s master taught him 70%hands and 30%legs, it’s the standard way of WingChun. But it doesn’t mean he cannot try new stuff and make it practical, and eventually it becomes his wing Chun.

I believe to what an aged boxer told me some years ago : no matter what style you prefer, in every old fighter there is one last fight. And its reserved for a special moment.... maybe this was what ip chun reserved his last fight for? one last time you give all you got.... the moment when mindpower and heart brings an old body to move like 30 years before... no matter if this fight was made bi ip chun or not, but i really respect him for training donnie yen to do this movies and honoring ip man....
