The REAL Master Wong died in 1997 (RIP). His name was Wong Shun Leung - the teacher of Bruce Lee up to Cham Kiu and 1-60 moves on Wooden Dummy.

Master Wong is a showman without much 'real' Ving Tsun skill. He didn't learn with training partners and a coach/sifu, he self taught most of the basics.

I know, one of Ip Man's senior disciples right? Lee once wrote to him, "Tho technically I'm student of Ip man, in reality I learned my kungfu from you". I can sense a deep respect & frenship between Wong & Lee from their letters. Deep respect to both Master. :)

Am agree a lot with IpMan, since every human is different, with different size of body, different reach, different structure etc. They have to find the most suitable for themselves.

Wing Chun is like one big family, all lineages follow basic concepts, all are effective. Until you have tried each version you have no authority to put another lineage down. There is no 'best' lineage, only what suits you best and what makes you feel most comfortable. It doesn't matter if you're from doing Ip Man's, Leung Jan's, or even if you're doing JKD. If it fits you then it's good for you, there is no 'best' because everyone is different.

I agree with Dominic Leydier and using a similar argument there is no best martial art, simply the one you feel most comfortable with and the one you choose for you. Whether or not a style or school is effective within the strictures of UFC or BJJ seems the be all and end all of discussion on KZitem but I have always believed that it's not the art but the person behind that dictates it's effectiveness and also that street efficiency is not necessarily the entire reason for learning a martial art.

Spend a little time watching the empty hands forms and they are all broadly similar. Wing Chun is one happy family, but it's the sort of happy family that gets together on Boxing Day gets a bit pissed and starts to complain about why Harriet did what she did to Auntie Gladys and why Nanny Smith always gets drunk at weddings. But claiming only your style beats the robo-ninjas is hardly unique to WC. Stylistic differences aside you have an effective short range fighting system predominantly hand based using tried and true defensive techniques. Keeping something in your opponents face and always moving forwards is generally a fight winner.

Actually I'm not a practitioner of wingchun, but bajiquan. But I also would like to practice wingchun when I get a chance. By 'that one', which one do you mean? Master Wong's wingchun? Wong nimyi? Or Pan nam one? Compare to the latter two, I'd personally say IpChun's biujee is less skillful.

Can anyone tell me the truth, why so many differences ,WT ,WC and other systems, so in even similar systems ,there are ? Every master tells , he teaches the only authentic style.
@xXShizukanaXx

They sure do. They need to convince people that their style is the most efficient one on order to keep their students and earn money. In my opinion, the style is not as important as the person performing the style. This is only how good a style can be, as good as the practitioner. Yip Man once said (so they say) there are countless Marshall arts, one just has to find the style in which he feels most comfortable.

You may be right, but there are a lot of fake masters and fake styles. A real style is based on developement of many years practise, improvement and not only theory . So there are much more efficient styles. A simple and efficient style may be more effective and learnable. So wing tsun/ ving csun etc is effective but beyond a level any master teaching is different from another. Why ? Because they have been learnt different time, with different care and different theory. Just look at the work of wristwork for example, that depends on how the master perceive his masters teaching and give it to his disciples. You know the unusing things can be practised hardly, but the result will be nill

+András Horváth Dear Andras- Good question. 1st Yip man taught WC differently at different times. And so, students from his schools learned it differently. Second, people have bad habits, and pass them on. Thirdly, WC is a principle based art, therefore, each person expresses and interprets differently. Fourthly, there are fake WC people at there. Good Luck!
