Nice comparison - I have a Panasonic S5 full frame mirrorless, and the iPhone exceeds the resolution of the 24 MP real camera...

All smart phones have that fake over baked look to them real cameras look much more cinematic. Cameras are also much more advanced photography tools allowing to take photographs in much more difficult scenarios and get amazing results. Any phone in 2022 can take good photos in good lighting when a subject isn't moving that's easy. It's when you get in more difficult lighting scenarios and have to track subjects moving in low light or action shots.

@TobyFromGT lol nah man phones have reached their physical limits try shooting sports action or wildlife with a phone or capturing motion in low light aint happening Even with all the fancy computation. It's impossible to put something like a 70 to 200 2.8 lens on a phone Which is essential for shooting sports indoors. or a 600 mm F4. At that Point it becomes a camera that can make phone calls instead of a phone that can take pictures. It's just physics all phone cameras can do well are take photos of static objects in good light or fake portrait bokeh. And maybe some Nightscapes in the right person's hands. Real cameras give you much more creative freedom those who use them and understand the exposure triangle know this.

Dedicated cameras will also improve and become more advanced with more powerful image processors for true professionals their cameras will never be replace but I can see how the casual amateur will be more than happy with the results there phone can give them.

Your right ,but often it’s not only difficult lighting conditions that hinder a good image , weather conditions can have a bearing on this too , big lens captures more rain . I took an image in Iceland of an approaching Snow squall , turned out that my IPhone managed to capture the panoramic image , where as my Nikon DSLR failed miserably! Sold subsequent image on Saatchi online at 60” wide . Anything other than an iPhone would have been impossible.

HI Perhaps a mention, I assume ,since you shoot RAW, that you post process your images. For the very small loss of detail (i.e. areas at some distance from the phone) a quick run in Topaz Sharpen AI (on a new selectively masked CMD+J layer) will bring back the sharpness (if the result is too much then use BlendIf to reduce the effects on the highlight areas). You will find that the overall results are for all practical purposes the same as for the Nikon. I myself have an array of Nikon cameras D200,D4,Z6 with Nikon lenses. But am now electing to use my iphone14pro for my upcoming holiday. The major downside with the phone is taking moving subjects (hand held) in lower light (I miss my speed light). Another major factor is the iPhone's superior video capture much better stabilisation and no roller shutter effects.

@@Risagames Quite a weird question. "I don't have much money, should I invest in a 3K camera that is just that or a phone with a good camera that can also be my daily driver in many other things and be able to edit my just shot photo's on it as well... Remember, I don't have much money....

For the price the iPhone camera is quite impressive. Although the Nikon is a bit more detailed and sharp. Nice video!

Nice video, I would like to know the price of your Nikon gear to make that picture vs the amount of money spent on that Iphone. Because I have a Nikon D5600 with a standard lens. I'm considering to buy this Iphone 14 pro to replace my Nikon, it's an oldie. Any advice?

Yeah the only reason to pay for a camera is lenses and shutter speed now. Nikon needs to wake up and change is product line to offer way more.

The most surprising thing is the difference is so subtle that I can’t say my lens I paid $1000 does the better job then an iphone. We are all in a great danger if it goes on like that our beloved cameras will soon become extinct.

@ZJ Michaels I don't think they will unless phone companies make the sensors larger and the optics bigger at that point it just becomes a camera that can make phone calls instead of a phone that can take pictures all the fancy computation cannot make up for the phones physical limits this is why phones will never replace real cameras at least not for pros and enthusiasts especially not sports and wildlife photographers since it's impossible to make a phone with a proper 70 200 2.8 or a 200 to 500. Iso 3200 on my iPhone shooting raw looks like sand paper it shows the cameras true limit with out the computation.

@ZJ Michaels these comparisons always only include portrait mode and static subjects in good lighting because that's about the only 2 thing a cell phone does great

Those who say smartphone takes the best shots are lying to themselves to feel proud of their phones they own.....i have owned top end samsungs and iphones...and still i can say for 100 percent, dedicated cameras take better photos

Well obviously, it’s the value add that is in question here. If the full frame camera is only marginally better for the cost its likely not worth it. No one is arguing a full frame should be better than an iPhone that SHOULD be the case
