Pixel + The iPhone will NOT do good in VR. I mean come on, 720P? Really? Also, headphone jack is missing, Adapters are a pain to take with you. The customisation of Android is endless. Better AI. Better video stabilisation. Fast charging (about 2 hours difference between pixel and 7 plus) iPhone + Better software optimalisation More true to life colors everywhere Better resale value Stronger hardware Doesn't look like a prototype Mr fisher is right. It all depends on the platform. I am personally an Android fan, but if you don't care about the platform, the iPhone 7 feels like a solid phone, even though you have to bring adapters with you everywhere...

I owned the Pixel XL and the iPhone 7 Plus and after much deliberation returned the XL. I exchange videos between family and friends several times a day and the iPhone allows me to receive them in HD via text. There is simply no native solution for this on an Android phone. Videos come through looking like they were shot with a potato. There are several other advantages to iMessage that Google simply cannot duplicate. Until they negotiate iMessage onto their platform, I can't switch. It's hard to lose the Google AI, but I think Siri will really step up with the iPhone 8. We'll see.

I find the iPhone 7 screen is a bit too small and the plus is just too large of a phone, that's where I miss Samsung most, they really squeeze the largest screens onto fairly small devices. the cameras are all good, no complaints with any of them.

And the new Pixel phone, even the Nexus phones from last year, make the software shine. As for iOS 10, great hardware is hindered by outdated software.

I don't want to own an iPhone, I hate having a phone that looks and feels EXACTLY like my friend's or my neighbour's iPhone, but as someone who takes their mobile photography very seriously, the CONSISTENCY of the iPhone and iOS simply cannot be beat. The thing's not temperamental, it doesn't get fazed by sudden changes in scenery, but above all else, the APPS. I've seen FOUR year old Nokia Lumias that shoot far clearer photos than what ANY Android can using Snapchat (TL;DR, Snapchat on Android only uses what is seen BY THE SCREEN, NOT THE CAMERA (unlike iPhone.) Instagram Stories is even worse, there are phones before the iPhone 2G that shoot clearer photos and video than the Android effort!!! It's pathetic to know that there are older phones that shoot ckeare photos than the newest Android phones through the new social media services..

Michael, you are incorrect, as so many reviewers I've seen are, concerning iPhoto Cloud Storage! This is not the same as iCloud Storage, which is free up to 5Gb, and serves stuff like iPhone Backups, documents in the cloud and iCloud Drive. From the very beginning of iCloud & iPhoto, announced by Steve Jobs in 2011, iPhoto Cloud Storage does NOT eat into your free 5Gb of iCloud Storage!

Hey Michael, I've seen all your reviews for the Moto X Pure and I really want it. However, it's been more than a year since it's original release and I'm not quite sure if it's worth the 260€ which is its price in Greece. Having in mind, that here we have the Galaxy S7 at around 450 euros and also the new 3T looks very competitive. What would you suggest me (I also have in mind the 2 phones that you comparased it with, the Nexus 5X and the 6P coming in at 250 for the 32GB on the first one and 400 on the bigger model). Now I own a Galaxy J5 which you probably have never heard about. your advise would be very helpful. Excellent channel and great reviews. Thanks!

SnapDragon 821: Very rarely stutters, and I'm convinced when it does, it's the app, not the hardware. 2. Android 7.X.X: This has to be my favorite version of Android so far. I love Google's take on how Android should work. 3. USB-C: I had a Note 7 before the Pixel XL, and not having to get new accessories was a wonderful, wonderful thing. 4. Google's AI: Being able to ask a very specific question, like "What's the weather going to be like in Orlando in 10 days" and get a near-instant, coherent response is amazing. 5. Battery: It doesn't explode, which is great. Also, the battery seems to be able to last me from when I leave my house in the morning until I get home at night and still have a bit to pull from. The Doze feature seems to be upgraded as well, which contributes to that. 6. The double tap power button to get to camera shortcut is great. I think it may have to be enabled to work, but once enabled, it's a great way to get a shot on the fly. Cons (To be fair, this would be better described as oddities. The phone has no true cons): 1. The back of the phone is ...odd? There are antenna lines, AND a glass plate for antennas. Other phones seem to do fine without this, so why the extremely odd glass back? 2. The fingerprint scanner is not as accurate as I'd like. Note 7 took my print nearly every time. This phone does too, if the scanner is cleaned every so often, which I don't recall having to do on the Note. 3. The screen. Colors are great, which is to be expected from an AMOLED screen, but I find the screen to be a bit darker than I'd like. Especially in the sun. Most of the time it's no big deal, but I'd love to see that improved on in the future. 4. There have been a few minor (extremely minor) software glitches. One time, I woke up and started playing videos and music, and all of the sound came out of the headset speaker instead of the normal speakers. A restart fixed it. 5. Mr. Mobile didn't lie about the speakers, I generally need them on max volume to hear well. I would love to see a proper stereo system set up, but failing that, better speakers would still be nice. Observations: 1. The phone has an odd slant to it. The bottom of the phone is actually thinner than the top. Not sure what the deal is here, and it isn't really a con, just an odd observation. 2. If you cover the glass plate with your hand, or stick it in your pocket, with the plate facing your leg, bluetooth connectivity gets shaky. 3. Unless it's a trick of my eyes, I'm convinced my gray phone is slowly turning copper colored on the bezel. Doesn't bother me really, and I'm getting a case anyways, but still odd. 4. The phone is relatively easy to scratch. Not unexpected, but on the blackish-gray metal, you start to see silver pretty quickly. 5. The phone may have a low waterproof rating, and I'd still be careful but, in my experience it's still pretty water proof. I wouldn't try filming underwater, or taking a swim with it but if it gets dunked it may still be salvageable. 6. The response to Apple's 3D touch is pretty cool. Hold on an app, and if it supports it, you'll see shortcuts. Long press on chrome and you can open a new tab before even opening the app. GMail will let you immediately start a new email, Maps will show you places like Home or Work, etc etc. Apparently I went and wrote an essay... Oops. tl;dr It's a great phone, and probably the best or one of the top three best android phones on the market. I personally say it beats the iPhone, but I have a slight Android bias anyways, just because of the customization options.

if I have tons of money, I'd buy the iPhone, or S7 Edge. Not that I don't use Android (currently rocking the Nexus 6), but because Pixel isn't at the same level with iPhone, hardware-wise, nor does it have anything special. If my beloved Nexus 6 suddenly died in the near future, and the Pixel 2+ isn't cheap, I'd look at OnePlus.

The ONLY reason (and it's a big reason) I would pick the iPhone over the Pixel is because with android ... you can turn ANY phone into a pixel. Want a galaxy s8 "pixel"? It's possible and easy on android ... Hope you guys catch my drift

Unfortunately, the iPhone is the one of the two actually available. Been waiting since October for my Pixel XL to replace my (still functioning quite well) Note 7, and they date of arrival keeps getting pushed back further and further. Google isn't doing themselves (or Verizon) any favors by not meeting production obligations. I'm still looking forward to finally getting mine. But I'm a lot less excited now that I was.

I'm actually surprised that Snapchat works great on my Android Phone. I'm using a Zenfone 3 from ASUS. I think the 4GBs of RAM helped it, despite its midrange SD 625 processor. Not bad.

Though I am a huge Google and Android fan, I'd still pick the iPhone. The iPhone's build looks more refined while the Pixel looks like an iPhone knockoff. However, the features of the Pixel seem pretty great. (btw, my daily driver is an S7 edge)

Good luck trying to get a Pixel, Google can't seem to keep up with the demand. I took the iPhone 7 Plus back to get a Pixel XL in 128GB on Thursday 2/2 and expected ship date is 3/21, that's a hell of a long wait for a phone. Come on Google, get with it!

I won't be in the market for a new phone until late 2017, looking forward to what Pixel and OnePlus look like from then. I'm a 6p user and while I like the Pixel and OP3 I don't think they're that much better than my current device, but with the Nexus line gone those two companies seem like they make the best alternatives (especially if you're like me and done with Samsung)

i think that iOS needs a fairly significant overhaul. Even with iOS10, the iPhone still just seems kinda dated in the software department compared to android. And now that Google is really stating to compete, i think don't think apple should take this with a grain of salt. Google almost completely outdid Apple in every aspect with the Pixel except in hardware build(which can easily be addressed). Not only that but Googles ecosystem is finally starting shine and when all of these aspects come together, thats when Apple should really be starting to worry. I like competition as much as the next, its just clearly evident that apple has been sitting a bit to comfortable at the top for so long and I'm glad that someone is putting them in check.

Hi Michael, I totally agree with what you said. I own both devices, corporate and personal - But my personal go is the Pixel, only for the sake of Android being more open for customizing it to my likes, can always reflect your own identity. Nevertheless, both devices are great and the best you can buy.

Micheal one thing: at the very beginning when you say "us" about the price you mean as the people or as USA? I'm bit confused here because even in EU both have the same price (pixel xl 128 GB maybe little more)

One small point with regard to photo storage: the Google Photos app for iOS will give you unlimited storage, albeit at a max of 16 megapixels for each photo. I'm an iPhone 6 owner and use Google for cloud storage and data synchronization.

I still believe that iOS deserves a MAJOR redesign, something different that may surprise us just like when the first one was launched. Maybe with the iPhone 8? Maybe??
