Hey folks - Just a reminder that in the video I specifically note I'm unclear/fuzzy on exactly how/when IQ2 will ship units to everyone else. And, now 5 months later - that remains the case. I also noted multiple times it wasn't a full review. I generally only do full reviews on final hardware/software, which this was not. Once IQ2 starts shipping to everyone else, I'll circle back on new hardware and go from there. However, I'd be hesitant at this time to put in an order for IQ2 units until they can actually start shipping. Otherwise, it's mostly just more delays (even if those delays are for perfectly valid component delay reasons). Cheers!

Bit the bullet and ordered the dual version for Euro 299. Shipping to Switzerland, Euro 20. Swiss customs might charge an extra CHF 30 (~8%). I have been holding off on power meters for the last couple of years, but this video finally tipped me over. Delivery is mid-2020, as per their website. Let's hope I don't get a lemon ;-) For comparison, Garmin Vector 3's are at around Euro 700 (excluding shipping and customs). Favero Assioma's are out of production (for now, given the Covid19 situation in Italy, and elsewhere). Some sites are carrying them for Euro 660, but not sure if they will deliver at all.

I've just cancelled my pre-order for these pedals and ordered a set of Assiomas. I think IQ2 guys deserve a lot of credit though. They had their first 'working' prototype on a bike in February 2018, just 3 years ago (as of writing). That might sound like a long time for those waiting for PMs, but given the total redesign of the product and the lost year of 2020 this would be an astonishingly short time for an established brand to bring a new product to market, let alone a brand-new-from-scratch start-up.

Wow, that looks really good! Impressed and pleased. I will still be waiting a bit for my MB dual sided pedals - but I was concerned that it might be loosely goosey on the first go round. I originally supported this because I was really hoping for a game changer power meter that would be simple enough and cheap enough that they would just start to be standard on a bike like speed and cadence. This is no longer really that, but does appear to prove the concept, where they are using a “printed” (thin film) strain gauge. I think this will also be a much more durable solution than the insertable pods (although not as flexible in usage scenarios). Keep up the testing, sir, as always.

Thanks for the great review DC, always solid information coming from your page! My question is to the reliability of signal transmission when using battery operated power meters. I've struggled and returned Vector 3's (on three occasions) and a Stages Shimano Dura-Ace Power meter, because they keep dropping or spiking or only connecting one side, etc. The Stages issue was exacerbated by the fact that I have a Garmin Fenix 5, which apparently has issues with Stages, and I am aware of the Vector battery caps issues (which didn't solve the issues for me personally). I believe the real issue is battery contact and not the power meters themselves. Have the IQ2 pedals solved the battery contact conundrum, or should I move to a fixed battery (rechargable) arrangement and forgo the frustrations of shaking battery contact altogether?

Later it became 100%...it's not that easy to give a good estimation on how much charge is left in a non rechargeable battery. Each one have slightly different characteristics (different base voltage) and you just have to look how the voltage drops slightly over time (and it so can take some minutes until the % number is correct). For rechargeable batterys you can test the voltage/charge curve by doing a full discharge and calibrate your percentage based on that, which makes it easier and more accurate. On their website IQ² claims 140 hours of battery, which sounds good...but let's wait and see what the full review of DCR says about battery life.

With Shimano Carbon pedals, in my case the front hook usually wears down in about 1,5 years. Is that something that would happen with this pedal system? ( it was one of the reason why I wanted the original concept )

I think he means the front of the peddle, which I cant figure why it would wear out!

In their lastest (late) update, it turns out they havent even started production yet. The three sets delivered to one backer, DCR and GPLama are all hand made - they even have to change the PCB design. On 29th June they were still claiming that they would deliver to all backers in June. When they missed that it was first week of July. It now turns out they have at least an 11 week lead time as shown in the last update, so the earlier promise dates were either deliberately misleading or down to incompetence (if you have an 11 week lead time and you have one day until your deadline you know you are going to miss it). They have now gone back into the mode where they do not respond (the last facebook post was 9th May). I feel this project has finally failed. I dont mind if I loose my money if they tried valiantly and failed, but the poor communication is an insult to us backers. I have tried reaching to to Keejan directly to ask him to do some sort of webcast to talk through the project, but have had no response.

Until now (Sept 23, 2020) IQ2 not even know their lead time! They don't provide estimated SHIPPING dates. I asked a refund two days ago.

The bottom bracket bearings seems to be completely shot, look carefully from around 9:44 in the video. Crank is wobbling all over the place. Not good, although shouldn't affect the readings, I guess.

One thing I'm interested in is: how consistent is the Powermeter compared to itself So if you have a reference Powermeter going at 300 watts on three different days. Will the iq2 Powermeter put out the same data? (Why I'm asking this: if you go out for training the most important thing to look out for is improvement and not the real accuracy of the Powermeter. If the Powermeter consistently shows 2% less watts that isn't a problem since you will be able to tell when you improved your power. But if on one day it shows 2% less and on the other 3% more you can't tell if you just put out 5% more power or if the measurement wasn't accurate.) Would really appreciate some kind of test for this although I see that this would be a complex one since it would require at least 3 to 4 powermeters working at the same time to give a reliable base to compare it to
