🌟 Delicious Iraqi Dahinia Recipe - Easy & Tasty Baked Toffee 🌟
Hello everyone! 🌺 Today, we're bringing you a delightful Iraqi dessert called "Dahinia." This baked toffee is not only incredibly delicious but also easy to make! It features a wonderful texture and is topped with toasted coconut, adding a unique flavor that will surely impress. 😋
Ingredients:
2 cups of sugar
1 cup of milk
½ cup of melted ghee
1½ tablespoons of honey or molasses
1½ cups of flour
1 packet of vanilla (or liquid vanilla)
¼ to ⅓ teaspoon of salt
Walnuts (or any preferred nuts)
Toasted coconut (about ¼ cup or more)
Method:
Prepare the Mold:
Grease a small glass baking mold with ghee.
Sprinkle toasted coconut all around the mold and on the sides.
Add Nuts:
Place walnuts (or your preferred nuts) at the bottom of the mold.
Prepare the Mixture:
In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of sugar, 1 cup of milk, ½ cup of melted ghee, and 1½ tablespoons of honey or molasses.
Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves.
Gradually add 1½ cups of flour, whisking quickly to combine.
Continue to whisk until the mixture is smooth and starts to boil.
Add 1 packet of vanilla and ¼ to ⅓ teaspoon of salt, then continue to whisk until bubbles form and the mixture thickens.
Pour the Mixture:
Pour the hot mixture over the coconut and nuts in the mold.
Sprinkle additional toasted coconut on top.
Bake:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
Place the mold in the middle rack and bake for about 1 hour, or until the dessert achieves the desired caramel color.
After an hour, turn off the oven and let the dessert sit inside for an additional hour to enhance the color.
