or at least the best two years for movie music, you had soo many hits, and soo many songs, flashdance, topgun, breakin, the karate kid, ghostbusters, back to the future I think, 83 through 85 there was soo much good music and dancing and back then people cared to get some excercise thought it did have its downsides, but people cared about their appearance and still at times we dressed up for parties and holidays. but irene cara she could do soo much performing singing danceing and acting, and she was ligit went to the highschool for the performing arts in new york she wasn't just a pretty face in the crowd she actually had tallent and a set of pipes few singers today have the training they did in the past like maria carie or whitney houston, lara branigan, aretha franklin or the like, dont get me wrong there are a few today but not like it was.

@@luishumbertovega3900 I don't agree with this. My mom went to school with Irene in the 70s and she never denied her half Puerto Rican & half cuban roots. She was quite mistreated by the music business and suffered a great deal of emotional stress and financial difficulties due to the lawsuit she endured against her record company, as her earnings and royalties were stolen from her back then in the 80s. But again, she never denied her Latin Puerto Rican roots.

My Beautiful Irene! It's January '84, the beginning of Award Season in Entertainment. Such a upbeat performance IMHO; yes she was lip syncing but she SANG it live a month later @ the Grammy Awards(Winner) and in April @ The Academy Awards(Winner). Throw in A Golden Globe win and she had the world in her hands....on the surface. By the end of 1984, bad management, a bad contract with a shady record label exec that cheated her out of millions and bad blood with a certain mogul/distributor forced her to sue in 1985. She was blacklisted and her reputation never recovered. A true performer at heart since childhood, this moment in time captures Irene near her peak at 24 going on 25 yrs. old and she was robbed of not just her earnings but of her chance to push the culture forward through performing arts and have a legacy beyond the '80s. My forever crush, I'll never forget you! Rest in Heavenly Peace Ms. Escalera BTW, who can witness a lady doing the Moonwalk (Backslide) in heels and not fall in love?💔
