Continental Tires challenged Sean MacDonald and his buddies to ride 1,000 miles in 24 hours.
The clock was against them. All they had on their side was time, yet they were still so short of it.
After all, how do you complete a 1,000-mile two-wheel trek in 24 hours?
Simple. You put your butt in a seat, twist the throttle, and pray for smooth sailing (or cruising, in this case).
In conjunction with Continental Tires' release of its advanced touring tire, the ContiTour, the rubber stalwart challenged Sean MacDonald and his buddies to complete the Iron Butt.
An Iron Butt (or, more precisely, the “Saddlesore 1000”) is a 1,000-mile ride to be completed in less than 24 hours. Viewed as both the shortest and easiest of the Iron Butt endurance rides, this is one challenge where skeptics are easily fooled. This ride is not for the inexperienced or the faint of heart.
Voyaging 1,000 miles aboard a trio of Indians with new shoes (the ContiTours), MacDonald and company cruised amid the crisp desert air, battling fatigue and low gas tanks, in search of Phoenix. The crew made a subsequent pit stop at the spacious Grand Canyon, before bearing down on the final stretch to reach the bright lights of the Las Vegas Strip.
Be sure to watch the full experience and triumph.
