Saw them in 1986 somewhere on tour at the Manchester apollo, the city had just suffered a massive bombing so the late busses had been canceled which meant taking an earlier bus and missing the encore or staying for the encore and walking the 30 miles home, my mate and me walked about 3 quarters of the way home then we got a lift for the last bit...never again will i ever walk any great distance in a pair of winkle picker boots 😂😂😂🕶️🍀♠️

I was there, and as usual, Maiden didn't disappoint! Thanks for posting this. Bruce did get a little bit lost on a couple of songs. I wonder if the monitor system wasn't working properly, so he couldn't hear the band? His handling of the cock-up of introducing the wrong song was masterful, though. A master of his craft, for sure - as are the rest of the band.

Bruce wears old school foam earplugs and relies on the stage monitors for his mix, and some places on the stage it's a little harder for him to hear. Try to listen to loud music with foam earplugs in... you'll notice it's not exactly the ideal mix. He gets a bar off a few times a night. He should really upgrade to IEMs, but I imagine at this point that probably won't happen.

I was there. Standing, front right, about five people in.I've seen Maiden many times. The first time was Donnington Monsters of Rock in 1988. This was one of their better and more energetic gigs that I've seen in recent years. They seem to be playing very well. Bruce made a couple of screw ups in terms of his timings and also when he jumped the gun and tried to introduce (I assume) Can I Play with Madness off Seventh Son too early - Have a word in his ear Harry! They played some great tunes - Stranger in a Strange Land being the one that I really looked forward to and Adrian's solo. I question a few of their choices. Why choose Can I Play with Madness from Seventh Son? It's one of their more 'commercial' and overplayed songs. There are so many better songs off that album - The Clairvoyant, Seventh Son, Infinite Dreams (although they sadly never play this). I also wonder if it's time to retire the Trooper. Yes, it's one of their classics and staples, but it's so overplayed. I would have preferred something like Hallowed be thy Name.a much more creative and powerful song in my opinion. Those little niggles aside, it was a bloody great gig. Went back to my bunk in the backpackers hostel and barely slept. Got up at 5am, ears ringing and drove back to Bristol.Showed my little boy the video of Bruce fighting Eddy. His response? "I like your heavy metal Daddy!"

@peckyneckyfilms
Жыл бұрын
@@superswiper7666 Not early at all. It was really easy actually. I went for a couple of pints in the spoons and then walked up to the venue. Walked straight in at just gone 7pm and headed straight to the front of the standing area. There were still loads of people milling around in the foyer getting drinks, etc. Didn’t need to do much at all. There was loads of space at that point. Worked my way in a little and then stayed there for the rest of the night. Was dying for a pee by the end!!

too bad someone couldn't isolate the guitar parts of an Iron Maiden concert, and find out just what Janick adds to the music. I know he writes the lyrics and/or riffs of some songs, but is he really adding to the bands' sound, as far as heaviness, or whatever? He seems to dance around a lot while playing guitar. What does Janick do to improve the band?
@davel7791
Жыл бұрын
He adds a lot of harmonies to Bruce's vocals. Janick's guitar is kind of the back-up harmony vocalist in Maiden. You can notice this in a lot of songs, like Stratego and others.
