I keep hearing that Oregon didn't need Harmon. I think that isn't true at all. Oregon will need as much size and talent it can get to be competitive for a conference championship or a deep run into the playoffs.

All the Duck hype and expectations make me so nervous. Due to history I try to temper my expectations, yet hope for the best. I guess for me anything more than two regular season losses would be pretty disappointing. Getting to the BiG 10 championship will be hard year one in a completely new conference. Let alone potentially advancing through the gauntlet of a 12 team playoff. Hopefully we have a long, successful, and healthy year. Can't wait for Saturday football to start again. Go Ducks!

I agree with GS... I'll think about a Natty when we get there. Oregon has to get a first round bye.

Not harder to win it all. It's a trade off. It was harder to get in, but easier to win if you did get in. Now it is easier to get in, but harder to win if you do get there.

I don't know...... Winning two championships as a defensive coordinator kind of feels like it might have an impact on that "new coach" thing... Though I hear what he's saying... Yeah I didn't think of it like Natty or bust either... Yeah...12 or Even 14 team playoffs, does make it tougher to win a championship.

Dan only won one Championship as a DC, but even still, that shouldn't be understated. It also shouldn't be understated that he comes from a Championship winning pedigree and it isn't just one branch. He has Saban and Smart, who imo, are the two best coaches in CFB...arguably ever. Obviously Saban is and I think Smart's ceiling as a coach is as high as anyone. Dan learned from two of the best. He also coached under Norvell as well who is no slouch himself. Todd Graham as well. Dan has the Championship blueprint. He now has the backing and support of the AD and donors for recruiting, which could be what eventually pushes us over that hump. It's one thing to recruit in that 10-15 range every year and another to pull top 5 classes every year. You can just see the talent difference between the schools that consistently pull top 3-5 classes and even schools who pull in that 7-10 range. It can be the difference of a handful of legit difference makers in each class. Between the elite recruiting, strong coaching acumen on both sides of the ball, a strong culture and the full buy-in by the AD and donor base Lanning has the recipe to win a Championship. I don't know when that will be, but I'm more confident in Lanning getting it done than any other previous coach Oregon has had. And considering Chip took us to a National Championship, Helf took us to a National Championship and Mario was at least knocking on the CFP door, we aren't too far away imo.
