I have the Abode Gateway system and it does integrate with Apple Home Kit. We absolutly LOVE the security system and the monitoring is great!! Only issue your subs will have is customer service. They will have to communicate any issues and set up problems via an email. They then get back to you within a few days. Its a total pain. However the cost for monitoring is far, far less than most major companies.

I have the abode without the camera built in for a larger house. The sensors are fm so it does not rely on wifi. You can purchase weekly or monthly monitoring or none at all. It’s HomeKit compatible.

Great review Eric. One thing that bothers me about this system is that when I set the alarm to “home,” the motion sensor will still trigger the alarm in HomeKit. The alarm doesn’t sound, but the alarm system shows “triggered” in HK, which is unfortunate because that means I can’t use the security system in HomeKit automations (i.e. turn all the lights red when the alarm is triggered).

Nice review. I've looked hard at this system and compared it to the Honeywell Lyric system. I like that the Abode system is 'new' and fresh tech. Honeywell Lyric seems very dated. The only reason that I leaning toward Honeyewell, is that the Lyric system supports a TON of different sensors and accessories. It has soooo many different types of motion, glass break, smoke, CO2, and contact sensors to choose from. The Abode system doesn't close that selection. For example, Honeywell has an outdoor weatherproof, paintable contact sensor that I can use on my backyard fence. I can be notified if someone opens it and enters my yard. I couldn't do that with Abode. I wish Adode was compatible with more types of sensors.

Thanks! That’s a good point. An outdoor contact sensor with Abode would be very nice.

Good video Eric. I love Abode stuff although I was a little disappointed in their new service pricing models. It would be an awesome system if they allowed other HomeKit sensors to work in the Abode system, in which then I'll be happy to pay a service fee for 24/7 monitoring.

Yeah if you’re already invested in other sensors it’s a real pain to not enable them to trigger your alarm

I’m all in with Abode, great system but the app still needs work. I wish their streaming cameras would get HomeKit and I wish we would know when that outdoor camera would be released. Keypad sensor sucks tho, doesn’t trigger all the time.

The basic subscription free package is what I want, it's sad they don't give timeline for free. I'm not going to sub model just to get timeline! I like their short term monitoring, I would use that while traveling.

Thanks for the video Eric! I'm getting the Abode system for our home, however I'm trying to find window sensors that can detect both opening/closing (contact) AND vibration (shock) that could work with the Abode system. Do you know if there is any sensor like that available? Thanks!

Hi Eric, do you still like this alarm. I was about to pull the trigger but there are a lot of bad reviews on the App Store. Big red flag is the company is not responsive to the bad reviews.

Hi, I know it's a bit late, but I have a problem. I have Homekit and several devices with it. The problem comes when ,,,, to expand my Wi-Fi network, I have added a xiaomi router or a mesh network. This creates another Wi-Fi network different from the one of the operator and Homekit does NOT connect to it, only to the operator. What happens if, for example, I am in the room and the mobile is connected to the other network (the one that is not the operator's), I cannot use Homekit and I have to move, as close as possible to the operator's router and so connect to the operator's Wi-Fi network (then ,,, ay ,,, if Homekit goes). Can you explain what I'm doing wrong? Could you explain it to me or do a tutorial or video, explaining that it is necessary to modify in the operator's router, so that when putting a mesh network or another router, it does not create a second and different wifi network or ,,,,,, be able to do, That the mesh device or alternative router is the one that dominates (to say the least) and not the attendant router. We appreciate it

So it is really not any different than Simplisafe. That is you have to pay for monitoring, like it or not. When I thought I could all self monitor it looked attractive, but now that I see I have to pay a monthly charge I might as well go with simplisafe.

Would really like to know how you make it work. I don't think it even connects to the internet. Read all their support articles. Corresponded with their support group who knows NOTHING. As I have gone beyond their 30 day return by a few days, I will be throwing it in the garbage and living with the fact that I wasted, was actually robbed, of hundreds of dollars. I have to ask, how much are you people paid to give these types of companies a good review?

I fully respect you, but you spend as much time making excuses for each thing that you’re not going to do and how you personally feel about something instead of giving us a technical idea of like Canadian P7 20 P speaking a little slower when identifying some thing and talking about it specs you can completely edit your video to present a lot of things more quickly but overall I feel your negativity really hurts this video and presentation. It makes me not want to even look at the iota. But I will because I love Apple and I’m tired of seeing all the other crap
