Basically, this is your point: 1. There is something inherently special about art or more specifically traditional art that AI art will never be able to replicate like being physical and the texture of the material used. Similar to you, I used to draw, paint and make terracotta. Now I make music and code so I have a bit of experience with AI because I have done exams on AI and made rough machine learning datasets(it's not as complicated as it sounds. A 10-year-old could) Your point is right and wrong at the same time. The only advantage human-made art will have over AI art in the coming years is the fact that it came from a human and the human's reputation. AI art will eventually get to the point where someone can hook it up to a 3d/2d printer and have the printer emulate the physical brush strokes. The technology for it is already here. It is just for someone like me to make a plugin for gpt and connect the dots. However, that still doesn't change the fact that a machine created that virtually indistinguishable piece of art. And because a machine made the piece of art its value will be inherently less than if a human did it because human-made anything will always carry more hype/prestige due to reputation. The problem with AI art isn't the fact that it will completely replace humans. The problem with AI art is that it will MOSTLY replace humans. Most artists don't have the reputation to make people want to buy from them. Most artists on Twitter for instance survive off 50-dollar commissions from normal people. Do you really believe that most people will pay some random person with 20 followers, 50 dollars when they can do it for free? Most people won't. The only artists that will survive are the ones that are influencers or the ones that already have clout. In a sense, you are an example of this. If there was no need to start a KZitem channel, TikTok, or Twitter most artists like you probably wouldn't... However, I'm not arrogant enough to assume you are just doing it for exposure, however, more people finding out about your art and potential sponsorships might've helped in your decision to start youtube and become an influencer. AI art is making a field that already has a reputation for starvation gets its food supply cut by more than half. Remember the example you gave about potters still having a job after the industrial revolution. Well most of them didn't. The industrial revolution replaced more than half of all manufacturing jobs.

I agree that AI art is an unfortunate blow to the art community which is already underpaid as it is. There is no question about that. But on the upside, maybe because of AI art, us artists will come up with a new art form that we never even considered before, similar to the modern art movement, which emerged largely because of the accessibility of photography. AI art is definitely a cause for concern, however, I don’t think it should discourage us from making art. AI art is the average of a ton of artworks it has been fed. Now, were those artworks stolen from hardworking artists? Yes. Is that right? Absolutely not. But it takes a human’s creativity to come up with something new, so using AI art as a reason to stop creating is an unfortunate waste of creativity that still has the potential of becoming something great. The way the public consumes art will definitely change, and maybe making art won’t be as financially feasible as it was before. I think you’re right in pointing out that artists who will still be able to make a living off of art are those with big names and creators from social media. Like with any business, using social media to create an audience who will buy your wares is a great marketing strategy, no matter what field you are in. Thank you for taking the time to comment and share your perspective. You can tell you gave this a lot of thought. I'm glad you landed on this video and we got to have this discussion! Your take on this topic definitely gave me food for thought :)
