Big fan of Somers and a big fan of Hey Hey It's Saturday. The show was on TV for so many decades, and times changed. Things that were common and normal to say in the 1840s in Australia would have seemed horrendously racist and violent if said in the 1970s. Now we look back on the 70s and 80s in shock. I'm sure we are doing things now that will shock future generations too.

Hey Hey has not aged well at all. I'm not woke or any crap like that, but even with the reunion shows years back, there was so many cringe moments, what some would call sexist, racist & bigoted nowadays. Gotta say I agree. I was just a kid when this show was airing in the 80's, and it was a force of nature, but it'd never survive these days. So much wrong with it. I wonder if Channel 7 will part ways with Somers over this issue, given the times we now live in & seeing how his comments and attitudes then were pretty woeful. It definitely lies just under his surface veneer.

I watched as a kid.. I knew then that it was in poor taste and I didn’t like the making fun of Khamal. Wow I’m shocked watching this as an adult. 😕 I feel there needs to be genuine formal apology made for many of these “jokes”

I used to watch Hey Hey It's Saturday as a kid and loved it now as an adult looking back at that how embarrassing but I have to say I'm pretty proud of Australia from what we come from in the past to where we are now that would never be accepted today thank god however I don't agree that Sonia and Daryl should still be on mainstream TV to this day I feel if you are hurtful to minorities you shouldn't be allowed on TV

Never accepted behind the screen. I’m not a fan of work culture and I did enjoy the most part of hey hey but these segments made me cringe. Especially Kumar. Even the Simpson didn’t stoop this low because ethnic characters like Apu and Grounds keeper Willie were given positive traits

Heyhey was a show and mainly live show,something on the show made us all cringe at some time but mainly it was fun at some peoples expense tho they all took it on the chin and Karmel knew what he was getting him self into besides I would not of know karmel or many others guests that was on the show and the show displayed famous actors singers sports people and just everyday people. You had to come from the 1980's to fully understand and that jokes was everywhere at work sites down town the hardware shop to the barber everyone then was free to do and say what they like and u let it be. Hey hey its saturday and the gang was part of my life as a saturday evening show finish work for the week and chill out in front of the TV or go out after it was finished. The point is leave it alone and move on next u be picking on on old people..

I look at the people who complain about things like this in the exact same way I look at window lickers. An eyebrow raised and a big cheesy grin that's on the border of laughing. The term "racist" has been so overused now, it has zero effect on me. As a white man, all I have to do is sneeze and by default that makes me a racist, sexist, homophobic pervert according to the likes of feminism, BLM and NewsCorp.
