I Love that video Spunky. You described me to a tee in regards to my 2011 ZX10R. I got my bike from a salvage yard. I didn’t have an owner to ask question’s rather to buy it or not buy it. My ninja had 9,470 actual miles on it. After it was dropped off by carrier I peeled the skin off (plastics). The hoses look great, fluids needed changing, and rash was obvious. That was two years ago in August. This is the second anniversary Year. Now I’m doing sprockets, chain, rotors, brakes and discs. Dude everyone compliments that bike. Few people even thinks it’s a new bike. I’ve got every receipt from parts I bought since owning it. The folder book holding my receipts is 1” thick. All my parts are genuine oem. I don’t use rider aids except getting caught in the rain. I like my 1000cc as whole power. This bike has allowed me use my tools again and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Great subject Spunky and I am never selling this bike. It’s become my dream bike replacing 2006 Honda RC51 dream bike. Lots of Love to you Spunky. Keep them wheels rolling Brotha. Peace ✌️✌️✌️

I plan to buy from the stealership when prices lower because I'm not mechanically inclined. I can fix it if I watch a tutorial video but what I've learned from owning an older truck is that knowing how to fix something isn't the biggest problem, identifying what's broke is. At least with a brand new bike I know everything that's been done and when and that'll narrow down what breaks when it does

Bought an '04 Yamaha R1 for ~$4000 USD a few weeks ago. Some of the fairings have *very* slight scratches and scuffs and the tank has a dent +rust patches. The guy I bought it from only had it a few months and he had no history of the bike. BikeFacts showed it'd been written off a couple of times, but the frame is true/straight and the motor runs great. Starts every time. 2K kms so far and not a single hickup. Only issue is that the throttle is sticky when full locked to the left and the clutch seems like it's on its way out. But for $4000, I'm still happy with the purchase.

No ABS, traction control, wheelie control, rider modes, euro restrictions etc. These bikes come with minor restrictions but they're dead simple to bypass. Parts are cheaper, easier to install. Valves stay in clearances for much longer and hardly (if ever) need adjusted at least on old GSXRs. I have an 03 GSXR1K and have learned everything I know by tearing it apart and putting it back together. My buddies with newer bikes always taking it to the dealer, having to wait on diagnostics etc. Here I am doing an oil change in an hour, paying less than $60 for OEM Suzuki full synthetic oil & a filter. They're dead simple, and insanely reliable. I don't care if your S1000 smokes my dinosaur, I'll be out having fun riding every day when your bike inevitably throws a code or leaks and needs to sit in the dealer for 2 months 😂

This is a really timely video, I’m looking for my first liter bike myself. I have some good looking 07 gsxr 1000’s around 6k in my area. I’ve had all of my bikes used a 17’ cb300f and a 06’ CBR600RR. The cb had 3k miles and rode great it never gave me any problems at all. I did all the work on it myself only things it ever needed was oil changes and one tire replacement in my 7 months owning it. My Cbr had 30k miles and it was great running never needing anything but brakes and oil changes, it was awesome. I think the gsxr 1000 is a great value, i really like them nearly as much as the old r1 and cbr1000. This is definitely gonna help me in my buying search, great video.

I think its defo worth it and like you said you learn a lot, at times it does seem you are pouring money in an older bike, but at least you have that peace if mind that its been done correctly, for example I recently purchased an 09 Yamaha FZ1 and the seller assured me that it had the uprated stator rotor, he even showed me proof that the mechanic told him it has the newer rotor when he initially supplied the gasket, I was a bit sceptical, and after watching some KZitem vids I had had a look myself, turns out it still had the original one in place, lucky I did check because I was able to remove one of the magnets by my finger so it was only a matter of time I saved this bike from a hand grenade, next thing is now i find out the oil pan thread is stripped! so ordered another pan as the threads are too far gone to save, the only thing with these older bikes now is sourcing replacement used parts, without having to wait for such a long time on new OEM back orders I like to go used whenever possible. great vid btw

@KantMods
Ай бұрын
I can safely answer yes…that is one of the pre-ride checks you do. Once you set your suspension you should be alright for a bit a little here or there but anytime you change or add a rider suspension should be adjusted. Not making sure your ride is in good working order can lead to bad or fatal mistakes…don’t be scared of it…maintain it. The biggest thing to remember is do everything possible to maintain what you can control, and prevent what you can’t. There are two types of riders…old riders and bold riders…but not old bold riders

It depends on condition and how well it was taken care of…when I look at a USED bike what I’m trying to do is figure out roughly how much I need to invest after the purchase(which also effects the cost of the motorcycle) I hope that helps!

I have a question, can an aftermarket exhaust cause the check engine light to turn on?
@SpunkyBoyy
26 күн бұрын
If it’s just a slip on it will NOT make a difference, but If u go catless that significantly changes the airflow…the light should still be OFF, but will require a retune to make the necessary adjustments to the fuel. When u disconnect the exhaust set value the light will automatically come on [Code C46] for GSXR’S. If u have an older bike u can just pull the exhaust wire from the ECU and that will turn the light OFF. If u have a more modern motorcycle there won’t be a wire for it, u can get a servo buddy which is a waste of money…the best thing to do is get a flash or a tune and everything will be turned off.
