I agree that whenever you flip into flower there's a different main focus for the plants energy and nutrients but you can't just forget or stop feeding other nutrients that that plant might actually want but as an organic grower my job is to make sure there is enough nutrient in my bed for whatever the plant wants or needs so I may start to wean off and get away from my vegetative feedings I still try to make sure there's a good mixture of nutrients I have seen calcium deficiencies as you go into flower or even later flower and it's not a problem u want

@@PerfectGardensTV So I shouldn't use Cal-Mag in flowering?
@Just4Growers
6 ай бұрын
The immobility of calcium is a strong argument in support of supplying it constantly at background levels throughout the plant lifecycle. Additionally, given that calcium is essential for cell wall development and overall plant health, it continues to play a significant role during all stages of plant development, including flower formation. Calcium contributes to proper cell division and development, processes which remain crucial during the flowering stage as the plant develops buds and flowers.

@@PerfectGardensTV hey man that talk you had with mr grow it was a big eye opener for me. I'll be watching you like a hawk. Question: I've never done a big operation always been a hobbiest grower. I'm in strait sunshine pro mix. As winter approaches and I have more time to tend my plants going to add at least 50% perlite.

@@kevinisbell1867 I can answer your question if you don’t mind. When you say that most bloom nutrients contain nitrogen that is simply not true. Fact is that most A and B nutrient lines contain nitrogen in the part B. If you use a 3 part like Micro, grow, bloom they are separated the bloom in a 3 part nutrient line doesn’t contain nitrogen at all. Only P and K in bloom nutrient.

This makes so much sense. I conducted my first hydroponics DWC grow (White Widow autoflowers) earlier this year using General Hydroponics Flora Trio series and Cal-Mag. The plants exploded in size during veg, as expected, but then continued growing during bloom/flower -- fan leaf production was insane (I removed handfuls of them several times each week just to maintain airflow through the canopy). Ultimately, the buds were not dense, lacked potency, and terps were weak too. I thought it was either an autoflower quirk or an overfeeding issue... based on this video, Cal-Mag added during bloom/flower was the actual culprit. God bless you mate!

Cal/mag makes up 1/7th of the total nutes/minerals used up till bloom grown in marginally light-blended all-mix soil in 7 gal fibre pots. Please, What would be a good percentage % of Mag to use? P.S. I also use mix local hard hard water(15%) into the RO so as to add - Natural Rock nutes into the soil because . . . they're natural random rocky nutes alkaline, while my feeds are Ph - 6. Try and maintain an interesting balance . . . :-)

Calcium seems to be very important for fruiting tomatoes; blossom end rot can be cured on new fruits by watering with milk. So it seems that it could at least be useful for cannabis because the two plants are VERY similar. But what do I know. It could be that because cannabis is photosensitive while tomatoes re not can make all the difference. Thanks Mark, for the knowledge you give us.

Got a crazy one for ya, creatine. Yep, creatine has been studied recently by several universities and turns out that creatine is a replacement for nitrogen in plants. In fact, it increased yield by 40% in certain ratios when applied and saves the nitrogen for later as the plant prefers creatine. Add amino acids and creatine to your potting mix, you will be amazed.

Idk this kind of goes against my understanding I thought calcium helps immobilize the nutes and is a building block, thus it’s needed during the heavier load of the plans life, like when it’s creating fruit rather it be tomatoes or cannabis it’s necessary for the development of the fruit since that’s a trying time for the plant

One guy got aggressive because he thought Ibwas trying to mislead him when I explained that Calcium comes with Nitrogen attached. (As does magnesium in CalMag formulations)…. He got irate and demanded “pure calcium” because he was told that Nitrogen makes buds smaller! He said he would accept cal mag but only without nitrogen… so I sold him Epsom salt (but didn’t bother explaining the sulphate part!) and he said he was gonna find “a proper hydro shop” to get some “pure calcium”…. I asked him to let me know when he finds it because Id live to get some for myself…. That was a few years ago and I’ve not heard from him since.

Electrolytes potasium sodium and calcium are used by plants in the same way they are used in mamals, not just in cells to make polymers for stem and leaves with keratin. Its used in the plants "pseudo-muscles" where by electo-differential potential signaling controls the plants ability to position its leaves into better light or away from too much light. Its also heavily involved with respiration, ei opening and closing of the plants many "mouth holes" the stomma that allow co2 and water to enter and exit

Ok....I have an off subject question that I dont know where to ask but I'm willing to bet you can provide a good answer. Im running a 4x4 tent with a 600 watt HLG 600 rspec LED light. I also have about 200 watts worth of additional LED lights that are mostly for tuning my spectrum. They are red, blue, deep red and infrared. I use the blues in veg to keep the nodes short and then use the reds, far red, and infrared during flowering to get the Emerson enhancement effect and use a channel of just the deep red and infrared for 15 minutes at the morning and end of night to simulate a sunrise and sunset effect. I have an 8 inch ac infinity exhaust fan hooked up to an 8 inch carbon filter for exhaust with a 6 inch ac infinity for the intake. Both fans run off the ac infinity controller that can have different set points for temperature and humidity. Now the obvious solution would just be set the temps and humidity as desired and let the controller turn the fans off and on as needed. The problem and my question is what if I want to and I believe need to use added co2 to take full advantage of my high ammount of light being thrown at the plants. I have a tank, regulator, and a titan controls atlas 9 controller with fuzzy logic to keep the c02 at an optimum level. My issue is that the ac infinity fan controller and the titan 9 co2 controller are running independent so there's no way to stop the co2 from being sucked right out of the tent if the fans are on. I know this is simply something I must deal with to some extent when running co2 in a vented environment. My question is to what extent? With the fans running full time I can maintain about 75 to 77 degrees. When they shut down the aprox 800 watts of LED's heat things up pretty quickly. I know with proper co2 levels a higher temperature is acceptable to maintain faster growth but how high is too high? I get varied answers depending on if they are recommending to use a vpd chart or just go with the traditional lower is better. I want to let the Temps get just about as high as possible to keep the fans off and keep from sucking out my co2 so fast. I have tried different combinations of settings with adjusting the flow rate on the co2 and the temperature setting on the fan and it makes a BIG difference on how long my tank lasts. When I try to achieve lower temperatures the fans are on more and therefore more co2 is sucked right out of the tent causing the controller to dump more co2 back in to maintain its set point. My bottles of co2 have lasted anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks. Long story short.....whats the highest Temps you would recommend with high ppf lighting and added co2? Should I just scrap the co2 and additional lights and just let the fans maintain that 74 to 76 degrees or keep pushing the plants with the extra lights and co2 which I've found usually runs Temps into the 80s and occasionally low 90s on really hot days. What would be your advice for this situation to get the best results with the equipment I have on hand? Sorry for such a long question but I just know you're going to have some great info and reasoning to help me decide a route to go to get good results and not be exchanging my co2 tank every other day which wouldn't be cost effective. Thank you and keep up the great work. Love the chanel.
@surefiremushroomsmicrogreens
3 жыл бұрын
I would say feed co2 at a certain time, maybe 20 minutes a day. Since your battling heat issues you may want to co2 during night time so you can circulate air inside the tent leaving the exhaust off for the 20 minutes. I would imagine your plants would figure out when it is released, just like when they no you feed. Then when the 20 minutes is up kick on your exhaust fan and cycle it out and turn off co2 so your not sucking it out as it comes out of the tank. I hope this helps you brother! You never know till you try 🍄❤️ I don’t have a expensive tank setup but I do keep some mushroom grow bags in the tent they provide co2 enough to notice the difference in flower development compared to not using anything.

You sounds like you're very well set up now my friend I would reduce your ventilation at night cuz you don't have this much heat to increase ucode levels over the night don't worry about it when the when your lights are on what is your prr level on your canopy in my grow room it's about 16 on flower I use a propane burner at night to generate CO2 so I can't run it when the lights are on and it's working really good for me I get at least 10 to 15 percent increase in bed size and overall yield with CO2 to let me know as you agree with me is anybody has any comments I hope it works that's my opinion I hope it works for you Mike happy growing everybody

80's and low 90's are no prob if you have enough CO2 in the room, just keep them hydrated and watch your humidity for molds. California hits those Temps up north on a regular basis and they have no problems growing lol.. Don't really need as much CO2 during lights out as the roots are uptaking O2 and the plants is putting out CO2. You could reduce by about 50% during lights out and bump it back up when they switch on. Or set up your exhaust as a pusher set up with your filter outside your tent sitting next to your intake so you recapture the unused CO2 sorta like a closed loop system. Measure your exhaust temp and if it's cooled sufficiently, should be no prob pumping some of it back in. Plus frozen water jugs can be a quick fix if Temps get too high.

Off topic but it’s frustrating that people see bugs as a problem instead of them pointing at a problem. We have to pick our battles wisely. i’ve heard from many growers that calcium helps with botrytis resistance in mid-late flower, would lowering levels of calcium increase risk of bud rot?

What helps is increasing the trace minerals so you have a larger uptake of calcium I would recommend using drops of balance and Bam a reading the $30000 field study report that shows How we are able to reduce both tries by up to 80% kzitem.info/news/bejne/lauMwH-lhnWXnoYsi=QTLmzCDzaKvenoV5 www.perfectgardens.com/products/drops-of-balance-2-oz-solution www.perfectgardens.com/products/16oz-bam%C2%AE-microbial-inoculant-concentrate?_pos=1&_sid=efe990075&_ss=r

I have had great results with their liquid bone meal 0-6-0. But this has a large amount of Calcium, from what I know, so wouldn't an 0-5-0 liquid Bat guano be superior? I feel like he's against any bone meal, as they have plenty of Calcium, but he didn't actually say it that way. I'll ask as a comment. Maybe he'll chime in? Love Nectar For The Gods!

How fast is Epsom salt available to the plant, especially if your are making a tea. This is the million dollar question for beginner organic organic growers. I have leaves screaming magnesium please and I am using Epsom. Not sure if its even available at all really. If your in flower that means there may or may not be time for it to break down.

I use calcium phosphate/liquid bone meal, I make a liquid fish bone meal mixed with oyster shell meal, bone meal, calcium carbonate/chalk and a pinch of rock phosphate all dissolved and stabilize with L.A.B in one huge dissolver/tank. which chelate's everything I need up into my plants way better than anything I've ever used in flower ( desolve everything with two shovels of leaf mold a pinch of suger and fill half way with water in a barrel or bucket this is an anaerobic brew. then add L.A.B once everything starts dissolving and bubbling/ microbial activity 4 months later maybe longer if it's cold, the longer the better, this will create the best bio-available form of nutrients for our type of plants I was once told😁 , then add apple cider vinegar with Mother culture = microbes probiotics/prebiotics, then add L.A.B to stabilize acidity around 5.0-6.0, you can also add Ful-power fulvic acid to speed up the digestion process, keep warm put on heating mat "75 - 85F" under it and make sure all ingredients are finely finely ground up to create more surface area for microbial enzymatic acidic contact/ digestion/reaction, all these steps are necessary so you don't end up with a protein collagen cartilage noodles in the bottom of your Barrel left over bone residue ) you can use this just like Herculean Harvest liquid bone meal. Use protein guar gum for cosmetic and thickin agent it's a stable thickener agent between 1.0-10.0 P.H, making everything thick like a milkshake when shaken up. This stuff really goes hand and hand when you push this calcium concoction with liquid Kelp that has fulvic acid combined with it = jet fuel 1/6 teaspoon ratio with liquid calcium, the more liquid calcium you push the more liquid "kelp mix/bloom khaos " you can push for Rapid cell formation ( 2-3 inch growth everyday and Rock hard high brix, super fruity with crazy treps) , make sure to push a protein-based nitrogen( no sodium based) or L-amino acid nitrogen base protein molecules, NO SODIUM not unless you want Big CLots & Cl-Glunk🤮 of calcium sodium all throughout your medium in gum form 😁... P.s when mixing in bucket your feed it's going to turn out acidic, so all you do is mix a strong stable alkaline concoction at 7.0-8.0 of calcium carbonate/chalk with sterilized distilled water making a milkshake concoction - ( this is just extra calcium in your grow 🤷♂️) - as a ph up method, only takes 1/4 teaspoon to raise P.H, no more sodium based P.H nothing or food🤮, that's it easy peasy.....

I'm curious why you add Vinegar if you already have incredible amounts of microbes in the LABS? Milk/diary has incredibly high microbe levels, not only the types of microbes, but the amount... Not including enzymes and stuff. Also... From what know, Vinegar can kill certain microbes too, it's extremely acidic, so I'm not sure how good it is.... I made Water Soluable Calcuium with some ACV, but never added it to any of my fermentations. I don't believe I've seen it used in KNF/etc ferments, but maybe I'm wrong. I agree with you though, I ferment all of my own fertilizers, and don't worry too much about what I'm feeding ,because the plant takes care of it... Of course, i try to not feed nitrogen rich in flowering/fruiting stages of my plants but you would think the microbes in the soil would take care of that. You know.... I probably should add some more of my kefir mix into my fish batch.... It's been a year, should add more.
@ronevergrow8319

I'm not saying that Calcium is something that should be pounded during flower or anything like that. However, everything I have found online about calcium says that calcium is not only needed during flower but it is ESSENTIAL! And these are basic searches on Google. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying everything online is right or even true. I'm just telling you what I have found well searching. It says that although it is not needed in as heavy amounts as veg. It is still 100% NEEDED to produce nice healthy flowers......

@@PerfectGardensTV "I agree, i just recommend to back off the calmag past week 4" Doesn't make sense still. Buds are packing the most weight during the second bloom phase. Ca is needed for pectin which is essential for building cell walls. And I'm sure you're aware that buds are literally stems, leaves and calyxes, in short it's a lot of biomass. It's not just trichomes lol. MJ buds are much more dense and heavier than your average plant flowers (ornamental plants).
