From there I was able apply and get easily approved some the popular credit cards out there from Amex and Chase. You park enough money into a BofA or Merrill account and then all of a sudden BofA cards become FAR more attractive options. 25% multiplier on all cards if you have $20-$49k with them, 50% multiplier if you have $50-99k and 75% multiplier if you have $100k+. So with the 75% multiplier their Customized Cash Rewards becomes 5.25% on the category of your choice (that doesn't rotate and you can change once a month), 3.5% on grocery stores and wholesale clubs. Pair that with their Premium rewards to get 3.5% on travel and dining (if you don't choose that as your category for the CCR) and 2.62% on everything else and you're getting some damn good return for $700 in SUB's and only $95 in annual fees. That's not including travel credits, TSA Pre check credit, no FTF, etc. Anyone got $100k I can borrow tho..??

Merrill Edge is moderately difficult to build wealth with. Most of their Index mutual funds have high expense ratios, and they don't offer fractional share purchasing ability for ETFs. Compared to Fidelity, Schwab, or SoFi it isn't competitive. The best Index mutual fund Merrill Edge has is T.Row Price's PREIX. It's an S&P 500 fund with a 0.19% expense ratio. That is very high when compared to Vanguard's VFIAX/VOO, Schwab's SWPPX, and Fidelity's FXAIX. All with an expense ratio of 0.04% or less.

Their checking and savings is actually pretty good. Their cashback credit cards are good, not great. The only major problem I see is their low credit limits.

Worst place is Credit One. 2nd worst is Wells Fargo. Capital One is okay for cashback credit cards. They are better for checking, savings, and car loans.

@@ProudMoney I must say I've resisted Capital One like the plague 😂 Probably the bougie New Yorker in me but I never felt it offered anything that Chase or AmEx didn't already have, and I'm definitely prefer perks over cash back. Think the Cap might be coming for my business? Great content as always!

Well sorry but that's a bunch of newbies. Everyone gets Capital but as a beginner card and nothing more lmao

My savor card is one of my most used cards. 4% on dining and entertainment, 3% at grocery stores.

Yes and no. Everybody starts out with the platinum and for a lot of us it’s our oldest card so we don’t get rid of it. I accepted an upgrade to a Savor one which has a good reputation as a mid tier card.
