@@Blend3rman In the background of a 2019 trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, there was an advertisement for a fictional soda called Chromanticure. The ad featured the phrase "mix it up" and artwork of a feminine-presenting transgender model in a body-tight outfit featuring the massive outline of a dong. It was widely considered transphobic, especially in the context how CD Projekt, CDPR, and GOG have repeatedly displayed covert and overt transphobia during Cyberpunk 2077's development. If you care to learn about the details of that sordid history, here's a pretty good article that breaks it down for you: medium.com/doublejump/the-road-to-cyberpunk-2077-was-a-transphobic-mess-a62c94d9463a

Hm... as a part-time contrarian, I'd argue that neverending rains in cyberpunk genre started to go out of style as far as in 1995 (Mamoru Oshii did like water, but not _just_ in its precipitation form - though it can be explained by the fact that he took notes from Tarkovsky, with "Solaris" and "Stalker" by the latter as prime examples of filmed water), and since then became a tired cliche - it was too easy to make a thing look cyberpunkish by slapping rain onto it that many didn't bother make their things _feel_ cyberpunkish. Hence, I'd argue that it was a deliberate design choice by the artists behind the game: faze out a stale pure style and replace with their own flavour of it, where environment under the sunlight looks as dystopian as under the rain at night. That being said, rain effects definitely need an improvement, totally agree on that.

Just download the weather mod from nexus mods. Set the weather to raining. Whenever a 'clear weather' event happens it rains instead. Means it rains 80% of the time it seems. Just like cyberpunk should. No more clear skies. It's either raining, overcast, foggy, sunny with clouds.

I'm actually not 100% on board (which is RARE for Simone-based content) - I think that having an arid desert setting is a really fresh and good direction for the cyberpunk genre!!! Like, I fully get the style over substance point, and I LOVE a good rainy atmosphere, but I think the juxtaposition between a rainy dense city and the dry sunny outskirts is really good and cool for the genre! The American desert is a place where mankind tries to recklessly push the limits of nature, and the sun can be as harsh and oppressive as a heavy rainfall. There is a lot of really cool style potential for the genre in the desert, and I think Simone is selling that kinda short here. Tradition and modernity can coexist beautifully!! Gimme a bright colorful neon oasis at night that turns into a sun-bleached dilapidated shack that is clearly duct-taped together when faced with the harsh reality of daylight!! And then lemme see it at night again and delude myself into forgetting its pathetic reality!!

Fun fact: if you find the Blade Runner easter egg atop the Advocet Hotel, it will immediately start the most devastating greenish-tinted rain I have experienced in-game. And it does not stop. Sleeping doesn't stop it. Saving and reloading doesn't stop it. The only thing that stops it for me, so far, are scripted game moments where it needs to be sunny - like your date with Judy. I will continue to experiment. This small find has made the game feel 100 times more cyberpunk for me.

I have some weird feelings about these hyperrendered realistic graphics. I think that the "less advanced" graphics you show at the end actually look better *because* they look less good. Cyberpunk wants to show every piece of dust, so when the rain looks weird on your car, you notice immediately. And the rain doesn't take away too much of your vision, because you wouldn't be able to see the stunning detail. But the way older games/ films try to *hide* what they can't achieve yet actually adds so much to the atmosphere. There's a mystery to it that gets lost with advanced animation.
@rachelrachel9152

100% agree, this is how i feel about the newer pokemon games (that happens to be the only games i really consistently play lol). When the designs are simple then it allows your imagination to fill in the gaps, when the designs are really detailed, you expect more bc it's supposed to be given to you, and then when anything is wrong it stands out bc the expectation was there and it didn't live up to it. Less is more and 3D graphics should not be automatically synonymous with good or better.
