Ephesians 5:4 Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.

I wonder if it depends on how you use it. For example making that joke infront of someone who has a family member on life support may be insensitive and out of place even if yhere are no harmful intentions. But within the rigjt audience, im not so sure its a bad thing. If this joke was specifically about death and making fun of murder then it would be wrong. But to me it sounds like a joke about the hypocracy of people that rely on technology criticising other peoples use of technology. I think the way i see it is that its not so black and white and of we participate in this type of joking we need to make a decision if the deeper meaning behind the joke is wrong and if its in the right audience. After all, the whole point of a joke is that you dont take it literally so to judge a joke by what it literally says rather than the deeper meaanning behind it seems unfair

Hi @soggychip3784! This is an argument I have heard others make as well. Certainly Christians are commanded to love one another, and loving one another would include being conscientious about a situation the other person is going through (as much as possible at least). -Kevin

One problem with that joke is that it makes light of the sin of murder.

I think joking can be fine. My opinion is that dark humor may not be sinful but it probably is not helpful

I agree with you there, Jon. I don't think I've personally ever actually thought dark humor was funny anyway. -Kevin
