1. Little to no replayability 2. $1 = 1 Hour is not a good deal because the game doesn't have an overarching story 3. Your obstacles cannot be foreseen 4. Useful and practical items are hidden 5. Artificial difficulty layers, no actual difficulty 6. Progression is the exact same 7. Don't Starve is not even a good base-building application 1 AND 2. If we're going off of his point, "Is Don't Starve RUINED?" and fact number 2, then this claim is a far fetch from being true. He mentions how the game is not replayable and average players only have 50 - 100 hours. He himself says, MANY PEOPLE LIKE THIS DEAL OF $1 = 1 HOUR BUT "I DON'T LIKE IT PERSONALLY AS THERE IS NO STORY" This is not a good point. He's making an analysis video yet he doesn't specify the fact that these two points are his personal preference. I could say I like the $1 = 1 hour deal so this game is awesome. 3. This point is true to an extent. There are threats that can be foreseen and threats that can't. And even if there are threats you can't foresee, you can always learn from them. The point of DST is to learn from your past mistakes slowly. I have another friend who has similar hours as me and we got a new friend who has never seen the game. Our new friend only has around 20 hours after first year, this is only because my friend and I know what we're doing. Without us, he might have 70 hours or so. Again going off of the $1 = 1 hour deal, this game has value. 4. Useful and practical items are hidden. This one has a good point, but if a person has gotten to a certain point they would trial and error with the items too. Just like the way Raft doesn't tell you what items are useful and what items are not, people will still experiment around with things. This one is also kind of preference, he doesn't like how he's not told what to do, but others might. 5. Artificial difficulty layers, no actual difficulty. He mentions how once you've mastered kiting there's really nothing else hard about the game. I can kite, but this point is only true for prepared fights like bosses. I usually only carry one helmet and one weapon with me (obviously tools, food, and all that other gud stuff). If it's winter and there are hounds, I might have to light a tree on fire for heat and light, I might need to heal, craft new armor, new weapons, etc. Difficulty is not measured through just kiting alone. 6. Progression is the exact same. Hammer, pig house, football helmets, done. This is something I will agree with. At the start of the game you're always doing the same thing, so yes this is true. But something I find not good about this point is he's eating his own words. He already said there's no playability and this point is going off of a scenario where you are replaying the game. (I might have misunderstood this point idk) But I will say, if you are replaying the game, this is what you do every time so yes it's correct. 7. At this point I'm hungry and I don't want to go over this point in depth. Another preference one. I build in Minecraft AND DST. They're two different games. Anyway my point is this video is just his preference, no need to take offense if you like the game or if you disagree with it. And for the person who made this video, I respect your points and how you don't like this game, but can you just not attack the people who actually do? And why go so hard on the KZitemrs, they actually try to make valuable content (the good youtubers). Oh also I have another video idea, Is Minecraft RUINED?

I have never played DST, but don't Starve reign of giants and shipwrecked has mechanics that will f you up on your first encounter with them. Such as winter, summer, penglings, beefalo in mating season ect. I always found that it was a challenging game. Especially when your starting out. Even after understanding that you need to grab the ice and build a fridge, it wasn't exactly straight forward. I loved how hands on it was. Yes you can build a base, but it's not automated and is very resource balancing orientated. Also the fact that many mechanics when crossing over such as freezing in winter with a heatstone that has cooled of and running away from a swarm of spiders/ boss could cause a plethora of domino effect issues and result in close/ straight up deaths. Not sure if specifically DST was the focus of the video, or don't Starve in general, but I didn't even know that it was owned by tencent. I was under the impression that a German company owned it. It is from a small developer with 35 employees though. Minecraft gets Microsoft on their back. 100-200 hours play time is decent for what it is. If you get mods like uncompromising (one reinstalling original difficulty) or tropical experience (one puts don’t starve contents to DST), you may get double playtime. Though it is true that they are reducing difficulty level after Tencent required Klei. Put damage reduction aside, Wolfgang, Maxwell, and Wanda can make more than 10k damage in 20 secs with Warly’s cuisine buffs. Most bosses have less than 10k health, and their skill CDs are usually 3 or 4 secs. Tencent is famous for making casual and copycat version of games. Plus, Klei is marketing this game to be cheap and valuable purchase at very beginning of release. It means they have to allure majority to cover their cost. It is inevitably getting easy and causal overtime.

I spent died like 5 times on days 1-5 usually due to dark and not really used to quickly crafting light or from hitting something I shouldn't have or eating something bad lol. Then I spent hours on youtube looking for the guide but it's still a chore to spend the first 7 days of the game looking for beefalo to setup your main base and then just gathering materials and food at the same time to not starve. It's just a chore to keep doing that especially as I believe the combat is lacking. I still haven't even made a crock pot. I made it easier by altering the world settings to make butterflys, berries and mandrake more available. I guess it's cheating but it allowed me to not need to focus so much on gathering food, trying not to die early and more on advancing the game

YOU THINK YOU ARE SO SMART. well I do too. I have said from the beginning it's dumb to have a game that you need to constantly look at a wiki or watch a video to figure out the basics. When I play a game I always try to PLAY THE GAME. Not study up. I never like cheat guide for Nintendo games. I played minecraft for hundreds of hours (in beta) before finding out i could move water source blocks by making a bucket. I watched one video of Etho playing Don't starve and gave it a shot. It was so annoying. Ok this tall bird kills you if you get near, Oh everything you just made burned down. I was glad they told you the ingredients to craft things. but how hard is it to put a health meter on the monsters. I shouldn't have to install a plugin to understand some animal is hostile and have a clue how long it will take to kill it. If you don't give a health bar than at least give some visual clue that the mob is dying. Again I shouldn't have to cheat by reading a wiki to figure out the basics. I do understand DST offers the ability for many people to share discover and help each other survive, but most people in public servers were dicks with info.

IMO the game is fine as is, though perhaps they should add a sort of "easy mode", more appropriate for begginers: 1- Add a healthbar for all mobs. Depending on the color of the healthbar, you'll know if the mob is passive (green), neutral (yellow), or agressive (red) 2- The game has lots of items but not all of them are useful. Because of that, a beginner can easily get overwhelmed. What if, on this easy mode, the game only has the more "useful" crafting recipes (since the point of this gamemode is to teach the player, let's keep things simple. If they want to get the full DST experience, play the normal mode). For example, though drying racks can be quite useful they may distract the player from crafting a Crockpot (far more important), so remove the racks 3- Perhaps all players should spawn with a fully discovered cookbook? This would incentivize players to cook and also show them how and what to cook... Maybe this change would be too extreme though, so I'm not sure... 4- Hovering your mouse over the day count shows how many days are left until the next season. That's all I've got for now. I believe this mode would allow noobs to more quickly grasp the game's mechanics without outright telling them how to play the game

(improper grammer ahead , dont bother correcting it) as someone who has been playing dst since 2018 with 1100+ hours behind , here is my opinion on games current state agree or do not i dont give a shit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ to address games few problems : 1.) Content updates (excluding qol s) content updates are nothing like it used to be (forge , gorge events and a new reign part 1 and 2 updates are a good example of amazing updates) . each update ~%70 of the contents are completely USELESS. celestial champion route/quests for example , are extremely lazy for a game like dst. 2.) Character reworks ever since ocean content dropped game has been gradually easier with each update especially character reworks. now dont get me wrong _some_ of the "new" content is pretty good but each and every rework tends to changes characters in same lazy way that adding a new stat bar and a crafting station while making character really powerful (way more than its previous state). well there is nothing wrong with buffing characters as long as they are balanced , but klei does not do it that way. many characters are not balanced at all. reason being characters including wolfgang ,wanda, wendy ,wx and wortox has little to no downside in contrast to their extreme upsides and abilities. and this brings me to my 3rd point ( okay wanda is exception here but if you can obligarate all bosses from far away distance in mere seconds does downside of getting hit really affects you? i think not.) 3.) Replayibility problem like rick said dst has no replayibility at all. its really fun goofing around with friends jumping into new servers and chillin but it gets stale man. things that the game offers you are quite limited. after making megabases , bossrush runs , every challange run that you can think of game cuts to an end and with difficulty being really easy it inevidably becomes extremely boring. now for those who will say " oh uhhhhh but thats the case with every game out there" no it is not. dst gets really stale really quick due to game being way easy after being familiar with the game. THERE IS NO CHALLANGE , NO DIFFICULTY. 4.) also there is the fact klei became skin focused but yeah there is that

he is just sugarcoating it, the only data sent is just what you do and advancement and blah blah blah, and if you think they ARE spying, you can easily check the source code, and if the game DID have spyware, the entire community would instantly find it (hes prob gonna reply to me as a chinese bot lol)

Is the world really so black and white that you are morally wrong for playing a game that is owned by a foreign corporation? I can understand seeing Klei get purchased by Tencent as unfortunate, but it isn't as if the developers, players, and the game itself instantly went to shit. As for the data collection, data is taken from you all the time, by your ISP, phone company, search engine, and even this platform you are using to post videos. It feels like a breach of privacy, and maybe it is, but that's how business works on the internet. Tencent might collect data on you, but it's not like they keep an dossier on every player to ever play their games--no one who plays video games on their family laptop is important enough to be spyed on through their web cam. It's about profit, the same as any other American company.

I think it's genuinely hilarious how many people (even still to THIS very day) are yet to realize that you're either playing a character or a hyper exaggerated version of your real self/personality. Honestly I've really grown a respect for you. Despite how genuinely shitty I think shorts are as content (entertainment/education, etc.) and for the general human race (shortform media as a whole tbh) money IS money afterall and from what i've seen of your other stuff you seem to atleast tolerate doing it, so honestly good on you man get that youtube bread.
